I was talking with a friend earlier and he had a unique take on the future of some L1s and L2s. He said these public L1 and L2 tokens that everyone treats like untouchable gods are drifting toward one direction, and it’s down. And it won’t be some sudden crash. It’ll be a slow rerating as people finally admit what’s already obvious. Then he goes on about how the real movement in on-chain finance is shifting to private, controlled rails run by actual institutions that people already trust with their money. Old names, new names, all of them building inside closed systems where the rules are clear and capital feels safe. And he ends it by saying that’s where the serious capital markets will live, not on the chains that built their identity around being “public” and “decentralized,” but on the ones that feel boring, regulated.
