This legislative session, two of our member food banks– Feeding South Florida and Treasure Coast Food Bank– had the opportunity to showcase their innovative culinary programs that help neighbors through workforce development. Our food banks do more than feed people -

We were at the Capitol this week meeting with agencies and state leaders. We're all working to expand food access for neighbors in need while supporting Florida Ag- #FarmersFeedingFlorida. Everyone understands the mission- to make sure Floridians have access to healthy food.

Since July 1, the Feeding Florida network has rescued over 169,500 gallons of fresh Florida milk for families across the state. This effort is part of the Farmers Feeding Florida expansion to include more fresh proteins from local producers. #FarmersFeedingFlorida

Feeding Tampa Bay's new Causeway Center is an amazing facility and hub for the entire community. They are certainly redefining what it means to feed this region, knowing food alone will not solve hunger. I'm grateful for their partnership with Farmers Feeding Florida. 🇺🇸🍊

Proud to stand alongside Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Senate President Ben Albritton, and Florida’s incredible agriculture community at the launch of the Farmers Feeding Florida initiative. This program was passed by the Senate in April and connects Florida’s hardworking farmers directly to our food banks so no fresh food goes to waste, and more families get the nourishment they need. As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, I’m committed to expanding the infrastructure that links our state’s food producers to those who need it most. We don’t want to see any fresh food go to waste, especially when it could be used by a struggling family or senior.
