@dude44484865030 Watchmen is Fantastic writing wise and just the whole way the narrative is constructed but it lacks emotional impact. I need to read more Marvel myself mainly read Daredevil Comics which I can definitely recommend, aswell as some Silver Surfer who's also really peak.

In terms of pure writing, Manga will never come close to being on the level of American Comics. But there are a lot of other merits that Manga possess that American Comics don't.

@dude44484865030 @Habbalab If you like noir cyberpunk (Not necessarily pure cyberpunk like Blade Runner) with a hybrid of magic, time travel & all those other crazy genre ideas blends then The Invisibles by Grant Morrison is a solid read. I also recommend The Sandman by Neil Gaiman, Watchmen is great too

@MrBigHog I mean the criteria to fall into a samurai anime doesn't necessarily require sword fight & code of honor. It only requires ancient japan setting (Hyouge Mono is also set in a warring setting so there are a lot of Samurai battles in the background)

Agreed even though I would put Hyouge Mono anime by Bee Train from 2008. There are some other really good samurai anime classics too

@LeQuanBrames567 It really is up to you to decide though in a personal level. I personally think that Kingdom or the Getter Robo Saga is better than Berserk in a more internal level for me within the medium in general.

After yesterday's post from this Cuckarot larper, we saw a huge wave of racist comments towards Indians. A lot of people responded by pointing out how many major anime draw from Indian mythology directly or indirectly. People talked about Naruto's chakra system, DBZ, Luffy's Bajrang Gun, and many other examples. But all of that is still pretty superficial. The bigger story is that when Buddhism arrived in Japan around 550 CE, it brought Shiva, Vishnu, Indra, and dozens of other Hindu deities with it. Japan adopted Buddhism as a state religion, and within a few generations the entire cosmology became NORMAL. Expected. Invisible. Japan didn't import Indian mythology as some foreign curiosity. It absorbed an entire framework for understanding reality. KARMA. REINCARNATION. MULTIPLE REALMS OF EXISTENCE. ENLIGHTENMENT AS A GOAL. Over time, these ideas became deeply ingrained in Japanese culture and part of everyday life. This matters because anime creators aren't "adding" Indian influence to their stories. They're drawing from their own culture's BONES. That's why saying anime was merely "influenced" by Indian culture doesn't fully capture what happened. For more than a millennium, Hindu and Buddhist thought became part of the spiritual foundation of Japan itself.

Guandu,incredible arc and honestly this arc was filled with everything for me it was perfect it had action suspense scheming and emotional moments all packed together though as sad as it was I’m satisfied with the conclusions. All in all 8.5/10

My taste is basic but I've been trying to read more of it lately.
