i don't think that's true. factory-made ready-to-wear tailoring has essentially been perfected. and yet people still value a fully benchmade tailoring produced by a tailor. this demonstrates people care about humans being in the process.

The video game discourse on here is opening my mind to just how people's brains work different than mine because I had no idea that people play (or I guess don't play) games just to be a part of the fandom, the fandom is the very last thing on my mind when I want to play a game

@covingtown My partner and I are rewatching the X-Files, and if you look at the lighting in that show, especially through windows, it's exceptionally moody and aesthetic, but completely unnatural.
Just flat blues and reds that don't even imply an outside exists. It's amazing.

the non DLSS 5 pic looks closer because like a model’s selfie, it is lit with intention people are forgetting: lighting in real life is often ugly. photographs, film are lit using makeup, angles etc everyone hates the game of thrones night scenes lit for realistic “immersion”

@majuular @UnderTheMayo Maybe we need a more granular term for having hands-on experience, but I've always preferred the broad interpretation of "fan" as anyone who likes something at any level.
I personally don't see fans of games I've worked on who haven't played them as a distinct type of fan.

What is the term though? If someone has never played a Silent Hill game, but loves watching playthroughs and streamers, learning about the story, etc. If they aren't a "fan" what do they say when they talk about it?

@UnderTheMayo By definition I guess fan is applicable. But with video games a level of active participation is implied. You can appreciate a game's story or be a fan of the mediating force (IE a Let's Player) without being a "fan" of the thing in itself, I think. Surprisingly tough question.

@TBeef4525 @PotatoMcWhiskey Because most tools and tutorial teach you on realistic models, so it's what a lot of developers learn first, and character design is a skillset you build over time by designing characters.
Since a lot of these games are inexperienced devs, they just don't know how yet.

Real talk why do companies creating new hero shooters always default to these very realistic and detailed characters. I feel like the most successful hero shooters are always very stylized (tf2, ow, rivals, deadlock, valorant, etc.)

Meanwhile in Britain, an Asian man was wrongly arrested for a crime committed in a city 100 miles away from his home
Facial recognition technology is hugely discriminatory putting children, women and people of colour at greater risk of wrongful allegations
