Lawrence Shankland is leaving Hearts for his dream job. I understand why he’s doing it. Aside from the seemingly sleekit way he and his agent have gone about the deal. However, I think it’s a mistake. He could’ve left Hearts a legend. It remains to be seen whether he’ll gain that status at Rangers. Attaching emotion to a job is a sure fire route to disappointment. I’ve been there. It all falls to bits as soon as you allow expectations and feelings to define you. On the flip side, regret is a bitter bastard. Nobody knows unless they try the thing, even if the outcome is a hard lesson learned.
