NEW: Washington Transfer C Franck Kepnang has committed to Kentucky!
Wouldn’t worry too much about the waiver, he should get atleast 1 more year.
Mark Pope gets a VERY PHYSICAL Backup Center. He committed to staff yesterday, I’m told.

NEW: Washington Transfer C Franck Kepnang is involved with Kentucky, a source tells me. Would Need a waiver for a 7th year. Quote on that from Washington Media: “He and HC Danny Sprinkle appeared confident that he'd receive it due to his injury history, which limited him to 8 games in the 2022-23 season, 10 in 2023-24, and 14 in 2024-25” • 6.2p • 6.3r • 2.1b • 22.9mpg. @MilanMomcilovi5 if you don’t go the NBA we want you in the blue at UK. Our system with Coach Pope is perfect for you and I guarantee you they’re gonna compensate you very well. Next year the draft is weaker and you will probably move up a lot more spots. That’s a win-win.

@BigBlueDylan @BleedBNetwork Backup just needs to be solid

@BigBlueDylan @BleedBNetwork @nbadraftpoint That’s what we need versatility of a 4 but can play 5. They were gonna do this with santos I believe. That tells me that’s what they would prefer and just a plotter in the paint.

Polish PF/C Jakub Szumert (2005) is coming over to college next year, I’ve been told.

6’9/6’10, 210lb. Extremely athletic! Gets downhill and finishes above the rim most of the time, has a capable dribble that allows him to bypass bigger/slower defenders, also has the footwork/post ability to back-down smaller/quicker defenders. Not a bad jump shooter either especially off the pop/when his feet are set. Has a really high IQ. When he’s off the ball, he’s always cutting to the right places.
I’d LOVE to see Kentucky get involved here. Could be a very quality depth piece at the 4/5 spot that gives you versatility.

@TJWalkerRadio Still need a backup 5 or a 4 that can slide down. I think Moreno is back as well but he can’t be the only one, unless you’re confident in potter, maybe they are
English

@CoachMarkPope Thanks for answering my question 1st day regarding Moreno and a backup 5.

Kentucky’s roster has grown on me if I’m being honest.. gonna give some of my thoughts on each starter.
PG - Z. Diallo. He is Pope’s best PG at UK. Great out of the PnR, makes smart reads, a quick first step, the ability to get downhill off either hand. Not a volume 3P shooter, 401 FGA last year, 73 were 3P. I think he brings that number up at UK, Just have to find him cleaner looks off ball for catch/shoot, finding space off picks he needs to fire those up. Lives in the paint, can count on him getting to the rim, drawing defenders, finishing/passing.
(15.7p, 3.9r, 4.5a, 2.5to. 49/32/83)
(19.4 PER, 56.3% TS, 27.9 USG, 30.3% AST, BPM: 5.4, DBPM: 1.3, OBPM: 4.1)
SG - A. Wilkins. Was extremely high on him before he Came to UK. Considered him a P5 Star next season. His offensive potential is very high. One of the highest USG players last season. (33.7) 6’5, his ability to score, create plays as a true PG is hard to find at the MM level. Like Zoom, isn’t limited to 1 hand, gets downhill off screens left/right, finishes well at the rim, has a quick mid range jumper, very able 3P shooter. 3 level scorer, who’s also a strong playmaker. My only concerns are how he’ll adapt to the SEC, his weight, the plan UK has for playing him off ball, That’s gonna be new to him, becoming more of an off ball scorer/shooter, has to defend at a high level, his ceiling is high, curious how quick he gets there.
(17.8p, 2.0r, 4.7a, 3.8to. 46/33/82)
(17.4 PER, 57% TS, 33.7 USG, 34.1% AST,
BPM: -2.2, DBPM, -2.3 DBPM, OBPM: 0.1)
SF - K. Williams. He returned for a reason. He’s ready to take that next step in his role, Being the starting SF. I think you could argue Kam will be UK’s most important player both sides of the ball. I think he takes that next step + more, he’s working extremely hard on getting stronger, adding more to his game. We all know how effective he is as a 3/D guy, but he wants to be more, off the dribble work has been a big focus. He’s gonna be UK’s volume 3P shooter, he’s gonna guard the other team’s best player, he’s gonna be an effective off the dribble scorer who can make reads/plays for his teammates. Kam will be a serious impact player.
(6.0p, 2.1r, 1.0a, 0.6s. 45/36/96)
(13.6 PER, 61.7% TS, 14.6 USG, 72.9% 3PAr, BPM: 4.7, DBPM: 2.5, OBPM: 2.2)
PF - O. N’Diaye. Good system fit. 6’11, 220lb stretch 4, who can play the 5. Shooting a career high 5 3PA’s a game this season on only 30%, but he takes/makes ridiculously tough/contested shots. that shot selection will be cleaned up. Has a good pump fake, can get to the rim in 1 dribble. He’s a 3p/dunk type of player, but has shown some face up potential. Hasn’t broken out overseas, so I don’t think he will here. Possibly could be a backup.
(9.8p, 6.8r, 0.8a, 1.5to. 40/30/83)
C - M. Moreno. Has to take a big next step. Staff considers him “the best big in CBB next year” we gotta see significant steps in multiple areas. Getting in shape, improving his hands/footwork, his shot blocking timing. Malachi has all the potential. Needs to tap in to it now.
(7.8p, 6.3r, 1.8a, 1.5b. (58/0/70)
(20.4 PER, 62.3% TS, 16.4% USG, 13.6% AST, BPM: 7.7, DBPM: 4.2, OBPM: 3.5)
PF - J. McBride. Great system fit, PF who can give you SF min. Good catch/shooter, can post up, good passer. Good add as a rotation piece, wonder about his Def.
(15.3p, 5.6r, 1.5a, 1.8to. 49/40/78)
(21.2 PER, 58.8% TS, 28.1 USG, 12.2% AST, BPM: 1.0, DBPM: -1.6, OBPM: 2.7)
CG - Jerone Morton. Good depth piece with D1 experience as a starter. Back home in Lex. Can play both G’ Spots.
(7.8p, 1.9r, 2.6a, 1.2to. 44/39/82)
(12.9 PER, 56.3% TS, 16.4 USG, 18.7% AST, BPM: 1.2, DBPM: 0.2, OBPM: 1.0)
SF - Braydon Hawthorne. They kept him for a reason. They believe in him, 6’9 wing who will be a significant contributor I believe. Him/Alex have star ceilings. Scores from all 3 levels. On/off ball.
PG - Mason Williams. maybe the backup PG. I believe he’s good enough to contribute as a backup. Moved him up.

@BRamseyKSR Moreno has to make a jump. But he can’t play the whole game either (fatigue foul trouble). Some don’t think this is a big deal. When we play the Florida’s of the world it’ll matter.
English

Turning everything negative certainly is far from my style so that isn’t my intent, but I do think this needs to be said.
Coach Pope mentioned in yesterday’s video to fans that he believes Malachi Moreno can be one of the best centers in college basketball next season. I don’t necessarily disagree with him.
However, Kentucky’s biggest rival went out and landed someone who is already PROVEN to be one of the best centers in college basketball while ALSO signing arguably the best center in all of high school basketball.
It’s May 8th. The roster doesn’t need to be set today so maybe the ‘Cats will land an awesome center to play behind Moreno. Also, Moreno may end up being a stud inside. However, in my opinion, “hope” isn’t much of a strategy.
The juxtaposition between Kentucky’s offseason and Louisville’s offseason is going to end up being VERY important for both programs and could ultimately end up defining the futures of both head coaches.
KSR@KSRonX
Mark Pope has high expectations for a sophomore year Malachi Moreno. ➡️ on3.com/teams/kentucky…

@BRamseyKSR Moreno has to have a solid backup. I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened? We have no frontline depth. If he doesn’t come back Lord have mercy. But you can’t tell me there’s not a center out there that would come to the university of Kentucky to be a backup and get paid
English

@andrew_rebane @Osint613 @grok Yep. Iran doesn’t have the satellite targeting needed at this time. It’s extremely difficult to hit a carrier task force at sea. China may be a different story.
English

@andrew_rebane @Osint613 @grok Andrew, a US carrier task force is not even gonna be close to the operational range of these fast patrol boats. They’re not stupid enough to put a carrier task force that close to their assets. Patrol boats are for asymmetrical warfare..
English

@andrew_rebane @Osint613 @grok Now it’s more problematic with us naval assets (ie destroyers) in the Gulf.
English

@andrew_rebane @Osint613 @grok Nothing a good ole chain gun from an Apache or A-10 can’t take care of.
English

@EthanLevins2 You do understand it’s gonna take ground forces possibly?
English

@FeltnerKev32715 @DylanBallard_UK There’s not enough teams left with that kind of money. His options will be very minimal
English

@FeltnerKev32715 @DylanBallard_UK 7-8 million????? Come on!! I’m glad you aren’t in charge of my money. Highest NIL is reportedly between 5-7 and that was Dybantsa and he’s a #1 pick
