It would be weird if most of human history was just… made up. I mean, none of us were alive for most of it, right? We’re just trusting that it’s all true and we’re not being lied to.

Is there a right way to do AI in games? One studio thinks so. AI created jobs at their studio. The final result is all human art.

- Meet Gottfrid Svartholm - Co-founder of The Pirate Bay - A man who believed information should be free. - helped create the largest torrent site in the world - Handles millions of users - openly mocked powerful corporations - joked about moving servers to North Korea ,space ... just for fun 😭 - Servers were seized and site went down - came back in 3 days - kept changing domain constantly - treated lawsuits like free marketing 😭 - traffic actually spiked after raids - created loopholes and confused courts for years - once tried to buy a country, Sealand, a micronation, to escape copyright laws - designed server to be bulletproof - Governments from multiple countries tried to shut it down permanently but failed - inspire platforms like KickassTorrents and 1337x - became one of the most blocked websites in history yet undefeated - Even fans cloned the entire platform to keep it alive He was playing a cat-and-mouse game with the entire internet… And somehow, the mouse kept winning.

Why do all the new movies look like mud now? Before that, they were all… blue.

Men - do you have a "mental list" of things you need to do every day? Or do you tackle things as they pop up? (I'm asking because a friend and I were talking about this earlier and we both wondered how common it is for men, because it's VERY common for women)

@KenneyNL Jesse Schell's The Art of Game Design. It is a really good entry point into game design - but I think the opening of the book is just great general advice about game dev that'll help understand what sort of area you'd be interested in

Ya the value of Indie is you can move fast and pivot quickly come to a solid resolution unlike big AAA teams. People really need to change their mentality in general AAA is “elite players” in sports not how much money you put behind a team. The same is true for gaming, how elite is this indie team? That’s what matters.

And you can still build a game where passion meets demand, but I really advise you to not start making a game that you simply do not want to make. It will show up in the quality, the marketing, everything - but most of all, you will not enjoy development, you'll burn out.

Game devs, I really think it’s just as important to make something you’re actually passionate about. You don’t have to jump onto 'friendslop' trends just to make money, honestly. It doesn't even guarantee you'll make a viral hit. Make what you want to make, but do it well!
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

Peak co-creator is encouraging indie devs to break free from traditional polished development cycles. Instead, he says, prototype quickly and lean into the chaotic, social fun that these low-fi co-op titles deliver while the window is still open. "Make friendslop games before the fad dies."
