@Toibin1 “Are willing”?????? You’re hitching yourself to the wrong wagon here pal. This has stepped from legitimate organic protests into vigilantes hijacking the nation. Who do these lads think they are getting to decide who gets to refuel and who doesn’t.

I have spoken to the protesters today. They are willing to allow 10 loads of fuel out of Whitegate today for emergency services. This could increase tomorrow if there are positive results from the talks today. The government must engage.

@thedevskilad @siliconbarry Barry isn’t blocking motorways and thinking he deserves to call the shots for an entire country because he’s the admin of WhatsApp group for a truckers protest

@siliconbarry Who are you Barry? You've popped up on my timeline and I haven't a notion who you are. I also don't know who these lads are but I do know they are trying to hold this government to account to help the likes of you and me and our families from crippling fuel and food costs.

I think teaching is more challenging now than ever before, and some will blame the children, I don’t think it’s them, kids are kids, what I feel has changed is their experience of childhood and here are some examples of what I mean

@PaulBushen @MichaelRosenYes A downward trend in the number of children who enjoy reading in the last 21 years would likely have much more to do with the invention and spread of the smartphone than any school-based initiatives.

So all the millions who've sat reading 'Dear Zoo' and 'The Gruffalo' with their pre-readers don't realise that their pre-schoolers should really be waiting till they're taught how to read before they 'appreciate' the books. Lols.
Tom Bennett OBE@tombennett71

Teaching reading for pleasure is like teaching driving for pleasure. If you can’t drive, it’s no fun at all. Function precedes appreciation, and competence precedes confidence.

@peterswellman A few very impressive debuts - bodes well for the future and mightn’t be as long term a project as people think

Impressed with Aaron Niland’s workrate too. Not his day in terms of shooting but stayed digging in. He’ll be better when the sod is good.

Wouldn’t be worried about that scoreline. Flatters Tipp a bit. Great to see a bit of fight - felt we were too nice to play against last year. Cillian Trayers looked every inch an inter-county defender. Jason Rabbitte, Darragh Neary and Rory Burke too. Patience is key.

@KeaneCarthach 60 minutes to win yourself an All Ireland medal and you sit off a team like that. Very poor

@SportTG4 @kilbrittaingaa @EaskeyGAA @TG4TV Scandalous - he’s contesting the ball and there’s head to head contact. A free at best. No attempt at a shoulder to head at all. Ruined the contest and no doubt cost Easkey the game

If Brigid's can maintain this it'll be the template for countering Rory Beggan. They pressed him every time he comes out, they conceded no two-point frees, they've had him scrambling back on several occasions and nearly lobbed him once. Big ask to maintain it though

@JamesHealy6 @ExaminerSport Ah Babs - He couldn’t ever leave it without a Galway dig. And disappointing that he wouldn’t just commend Naas and Kildare for the huge work that’s going in to developing hurling there.

@ExaminerSport It’s that time of year again !! Now Babs, don’t be too concerned about Galway hurling as we have 6/7 top grade senior hurling clubs after a great county final. I was in Ballinasloe in 73 when London beat Galway so that was definitely a poorer place !!! 🚀🧨

@DocKeeperCoach There’s a huge difference with soccer though in that it is a sport that has a presence, history, culture etc in Ireland, and has huge exposure. Any kid that ’leaves’ GAA to play soccer has been playing soccer all their lives. Rugby the same. AFL v different

I don’t think we should ever be mad or angry if a young player moves to AFL from Gaelic. Exponentially more players leave to play soccer and other sports. Why are we so jealous of AFL? Because they’re so professional, the players are paid and looked after better? Cont’d

@Casey5122dark The correct analogy would be that you leave a note on your menu. A young waitress crumples it up, throws it in the bin and everything just carries on

A restaurant opens in your neighbourhood and you decide to give it a try. When the menu arrives, to your surprise and consternation, there are only two items on the menu, one more unattractive than the other. You leave without ordering either, letting the maître d’ know why you’re leaving. That’s a choice.

@movementcoachkm That fairly blew up on you to be fair - nothing wrong with the argument though - might not be too many Corofins in the future, Denis Walsh’s piece in the Irish Times yesterday about the rise of super clubs is fairly ominous for the club game
