THIS GUY BUILT A FULLY FUNCTIONAL WINDOWS XP SIMULATION AS HIS PERSONAL WEBSITE
it started as a simple XP-themed site and turned into a full simulation
draggable windows, start menu, taskbar, Winamp music player. the whole thing
you can actually click around, open programs, drag windows, play games, and use it like a real desktop
this is the kind of creativity you need when building a personal site to show off your portfolio

It's becoming super obvious that most people in the US do not like AI.
But there's an easy way to fix this.
It's actually super simple.
AI companies pay for every home's electricity and water bill in the counties where data centers are built.
Easy.
You literally start proving out the abundance thesis the second those data centers get approved.
Per Grok 4.20, there's roughly 50k homes in an average county in the US, with an average yearly utility bill for electricity and water of roughly $3k per year.
That's roughly $150m per year per county.
Each one of the biggest data center hyperscalers can very easily afford this.
You'll have counties TRIPPING OVER THEMSELVES to get a data center built in their region.
It's such a no-brainer solution.

@icanvardar Hi! I see you are new to corporate America. This is how they are and always will be.

@PinoAmericano Because it’s in the way of all that maritime traffic?

@johncrickett I’ll have Claude code do it. Thanks for the advice.

Every programmer should learn C.
Implement a linked list, hash table, and binary tree. Then build a simple CLI program and a basic network server.
Not because you'll use it daily, but because it strips away every abstraction you've been hiding behind and shows you what's really beneath whatever language you use daily.

@Tech_girlll One of the all-time shittiest apps too. So glad Discord came along when it did.

@Adidotdev @aiOracle__ Just realized an important detail - I’m an employee. Not my company
English

@Adidotdev @aiOracle__ They pay for $200 max. If I need more they pay for the extra usage but I rarely hit rate limits
English

@Adidotdev @aiOracle__ My company pays for this. No worries

You’re maybe 30% right. Context window degradation is real — quality drops after ~35 min of accumulated context, and yeah, some people are feeding Claude a 200-file monolith with no architecture.
But Anthropic literally published a postmortem confirming 3 infrastructure bugs that silently degraded Claude for a month. OpenAI admitted 5 undocumented updates to GPT-4o. AMD’s AI director tracked a 67% drop in thinking depth with telemetry data.
Blaming the users is the easy take. The infrastructure is genuinely non-deterministic.

@donkalousalpha @vxunderground Yeah - more context is needed. It could be a proud moment or gun in the mouth moment
English

@FeralizedHuman @vxunderground then they would have mentioned the more relevant figure (x users) and not the team size (4 members). they specifically chose to highlight that 4 employees burned 6 figures on ai.

If corporations allow you to sign up with one click, you should be able to cancel with one click too.
Subscription traps, whether from an app or gym membership, are just another way corporations take advantage of working people.
We've already put hundreds of companies on notice. This week, we proposed a rule that would make NYC a national leader in cracking down on abusive practices that nickel-and-dime New Yorkers.
English

@birdabo It means their usage is high - which may translate to revenue - not enough context
