QFFD had the pleasure of joining the European Commission’s Director-General for the MENA region today in a workshop on “How to Ensure Coordinated International Efforts for Syria’s Socio-Economic Recovery?” during the Brussels IX Conference on Standing with Syria: Meeting the Needs for a Successful Transition. Discussions highlighted the urgency of stabilizing and developing Syria through collective action by Europe, neighboring countries, and GCC states. We welcomed the recognition from the EU and the World Bank of Qatar’s contributions to energy restoration in Syria and the opportunity to explore potential collaboration with the Commission. QFFD remains committed to restoring essential services for the brotherly Syrian people and looks forward to forging partnerships that enhance our collective impact.

On February 24, EU Ambassadors in Doha met with the Ambassador of Ukraine, H.E. Andrii Kuzmenko, at the Ukrainian Embassy. Three years ago, Russia launched a war of aggression against Ukraine, violating international law and undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence. The EU remains committed to defending international law, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, and once again expresses its full solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Cherrypicking in applying the Rome Statute is incomprehensible. How can we expect third countries to enforce the ICC arrest warrant against Putin (which they should!) and then say we won’t enforce it against Netanyahu? Our credibility as a community of law is eroding.
