Why would you adapt something without the intention to adapt it at all? Also he shoots the cyclops in the film out of anger not pride or arrogance because again he isn’t Odysseus.

Achilles isn’t a cameo in the Odyssey and no character can fill his role.

@daddycrimeboy @AthelwulfG @NTSupFirepower It’s intended to be an adaptation of the Odyssey, not the Aeneid, and I get creative freedom but there is a fine line between it and bastardization and, while the movie is good, it’s not one Nolan seems to grasp. He removed Achilles because he removed the true Odysseus.

Nolan is allowed to take creative license with the source material if it serves the story he wants to tell because it’s his adaptation

@AthelwulfG @NTSupFirepower It’s not Achilles in the movie though. Odysseus speaks to Sinon instead. It’s a change made for plot reasons to connect back to Odysseus’s guilt over Trojan horse and the sacking of Troy as well as his decision to take Sinon to war. It’s different but it works for the movie.
