Since all the bigots wanna claim that Nolan is somehow disrespecting Homer’s work and legacy, just wanted to point out that Homer never described Helen’s skin color or any other physical traits besides her being beautiful with unblemished skin and lovely hair. “White-armed” most likely did not refer to her skin but rather class status. The wealthy did not do hard labor or work endless hours in the sun so their skin was more smooth and without damage. He literally left it ambiguous so specific features were left open to interpretation. There is no clear description of her. Also she wouldn’t have been pale anyways considering she’d be Mediterranean. Her skin would have been light tan at the palest but most likely she would’ve had a deeper olive skin tone. There is also no ancient text to suggest she had blue eyes. In fact, it’s been assumed her eyes were likely brown. The physical traits we’ve seen her have in modern adaptations are not based off Homer’s description. Again, none of these people pretending to be outraged know what they’re talking about or have ever read the source material they claim to suddenly be experts on. Oh, and reminder that she is a FICTIONAL person and did not exist.
