Clarification on My Political Position We have noted recent media reports and discussions suggesting a possible realignment within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to the current challenges facing the party. In light of the misleading narratives in the public domain, I wish to state categorically that no final decision has been taken regarding my political future or that of my political associates. The recent Supreme Court judgment, while affirming the legitimacy of the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC), also remitted the matter back to the High Court. This has left the party in a precarious position. In addition, the Federal High Court has recently ruled to delegitimise the party’s recent convention. The Attorney General of the Federation has also strangely applied to a Federal High Court to deregister the ADC. We left the NNPP due to externally influenced legal problems that made our stay perilous. The ADC has now been also forced into this difficulty. Consequently, like other major stakeholders, we have commenced wide-ranging consultations — including with leaders from the NDC, PRP and others to explore the best options for protecting our democratic interests. We shall announce our decision in the soonest possible time. On the issue of presidential candidacy, I wish to recall my consistent record as a committed democrat. In the 2014 APC presidential primary, I came second to President Muhammadu Buhari (whom I fully supported to victory), with Atiku Abubakar third, Rochas Okorocha fourth, and the late Sam Nda-Isaiah fifth. Similarly, in 2019, I contested the PDP presidential ticket and immediately supported the winner, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, serving as the campaign’s coordinator in the North. I have always placed national interest and party unity above personal ambition. Furthermore, the ADC is yet to zone its presidential ticket or take any decision on a candidate. I have therefore neither declared any intention to run for president nor endorsed any aspirant. All speculations to the contrary are premature and unfounded. My absence from the two recent ADC stakeholders’ meetings was due to unavoidable personal commitments. I promptly communicated my apologies to the party leadership. We shall continue to engage constructively at all levels. Any definitive position on our political direction will be communicated formally through official channels at the appropriate time. Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, PhD, FNSE Former Governor, Kano State Former Minster of Defence

HAPPENING: The ADC Leadership are currently in an emergency meeting to discuss the development and agree next steps. One of the key consideration is to zone the President to the South. Also to reduce the amount for the purchase of nomination forms. What's your view on this?

If you understand chess, you’ll know that sometimes your opponent makes a move that forces your hand, if you don’t reposition immediately, it’s checkmate. That’s the situation Peter Obi was heading into. Staying put would have boxed him in completely. So this move isn’t random, it’s strategic, and honestly, his best option going forward. The plan seemed clear before; keep him in ADC, hand the ticket to Atiku Abubakar, and wait until the INEC deadline passes. At that point, Obi would have no viable platform left and would effectively be pushed out of the 2027 race. From a chess perspective, this move is simply him refusing to be checkmated.

Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have officially joined the NDC and obtained their membership cards. Have we all gotten our PVC’s ready?

My God. College graduates are running for congress in the US because it costs almost nothing to do. You as an ordinary citizen should be able to contest for the presidency. The 100m bottleneck in the world’s poverty headquarters should concern you. It means you can never be president and whoever can afford that would most likely be corrupt. But all that is okay to you as long as it gives you a chance to take digs at Peter Obi. Sigh
Premier@SodiqTade

Obidients are now complaining about the cost of nomination forms. Lmaooooo. Politics is extremely expensive in Nigeria the reason Obi has been flying Private Jets around to consult with stakeholders across the country. If Obi can fly PJ, he can also buy a 100m Presidential form.

Atiku and his allies were clearly looking to capitalize on Peter Obi’s influence for 2027, that’s why they kept marketing the coalition nonstop, despite already plotting to sideline him. The second Obi drew the line, they ran to Twitter & had a full-blown meltdown for three days.

The put crisis that made us to abandon those parties and move to NDC, where the leader have already told us “No litigation”, Please let there be no litigation. Party members, please don't go to court. We want to build a party, we are not lawyers.” - Peter Obi pleads with his new party,NDC.

How on Earth did the ADC squander this GREAT GOODWILL of the people? You had the South on lockdown through Obi. You had the North on lockdown through Kwankwaso. You had the political empathy of the people who were willing to stand by you against Tinubu's persecutions. Now they are panicking and holding emergency meetings here and there! HOW DID THEY MISMANAGE THIS? HOW?
