@scottiebateman How was the Butter Chicken? Looks like it was executed with the precision I exercise when seeking out my first bacon sandwich, upon landing back in Blighty. Vancouver has many things, thick cut back bacon it does not 🤣

Delhi to London. Night flight. Homebound. Mission butter chicken: complete. Now the rhythm shifts, from movement to stillness. From long-haul focus to something far simpler: time off, friends, and a certain dog who will expect far more walks than I’m probably ready for. But first, one more crossing of a route that has been bringing people home for nearly a century. In the 1930s, this journey wasn’t a night flight. It was an expedition. Imperial Airways crews edged west in stages, Karachi, Basra, Cairo, across Europe linking the far reaches of the Empire one sector at a time. Flying boats and early airliners, navigating by map, star, and instinct. What we now do overnight once took days, sometimes weeks. Tonight, it’s a single, quiet arc through the darkness. Same geography. Same distance. Just a very different machine. There’s something fitting about flying it homeward. These routes were never just about travel, they were about connection. Between places, people, and lives lived far apart. And now, for me at least, they end where they should. Home. Friends. And a long overdue walk with Millie. #PilotLife #A350 #Homebound #LongHaul #AvGeek #AviationHistory #ImperialAirways #FlightDeckView #AboveTheClouds #LayoverLife #AirlineLife

London to Hong Kong once took a week. Tonight we’ll do it while most people sleep. This evening I’ll push the A350 away from Heathrow and point it toward Hong Kong one last time for a while before my flying turns westward next month. It’s easy now to forget just how extraordinary this route really is. Tonight we’ll cross half the planet in a single sweep: Europe, Central Asia, and on toward the South China Sea. Even with modern geopolitics bending our track around closed airspace and conflict zones, the journey is still measured in hours. But when this route first opened in the 1930s, London to Hong Kong wasn’t a flight. It was an expedition. The old Imperial Airways flying boats crept east in stages, London to the Mediterranean, on through the Middle East, across India, then down through Southeast Asia. Passengers slept in hotels between sectors while aircraft were refuelled and prepared for the next leg. What we now fly overnight once took a week or more. The geography hasn’t changed, deserts, mountains and oceans still lie between Europe and Asia, but the scale of human possibility has. What once required patience and persistence now requires only a long night and the quiet reliability of a modern aircraft. One more crossing of this remarkable corridor before my compass swings west for a while. Different destinations ahead. Same sky above.

@RepFine So disrespectful and unbecoming of the America I know and love, but we are where we are these days…so well done for being so predictable. I cannot even imagine the tantrum if your President was refered to as anything else. Grow up.

Alright engine geeks, game on: Dusty old scrapped engines.... spotted these in a workshop.... tell me what Rolls-Royce engines these are. Hint: That blue fan case isn't hiding... UltraFan vibes all the way (world's biggest engine family). Or am I wrong?

@Fahadnaimb Definitely unintentional that our national airline is buying European aircraft to diversify its predominately Boeing long haul fleet 🤔

Big news for Air Canada fans! 🇨🇦 Just ordered 8 firm Airbus A350-1000s + 8 options (up to 16), deliveries from 2030. Fuel savings, more capacity for long-haul growth. Airbus edging out on long-haul tech. 777X still the king or A350-1000 steals it?

@Krommsan @ronmortgageguy Good for him, that’s awesome. I will never understand the -20% CMHC thing, complete scam. Banks should fend for themselves, tighten up on the fraud apps they approved and let people put down 10%, given the $ of houses today.
