@Spidermonk20914 @Nance726 I happened to write this up earlier… another negative review
Fight for Mary@FightForMary

I DO NOT CARE - NOT A FAN I watched this film with my 8 yo little boy, both of us unimpressed I paused it sooooo many times… this isn’t accurate… that isn’t accurate First off, half ass attempt on “demons” and zero Angels in the movie The Agony in the garden was weak almost nonexistent Satan wasn’t present when Jesus said take this from me. No Angel with a Chalice Mary Magdalene wasn’t the woman who commited adultery zero support for that. None. Pure Hollywood. Magdalene was very rich and well known in those times - she owned Magdalum - it’s was a big complex very famous - that’s why her conversion was so shocking Mary Magdalene’s neck is showing, hair flowing, etc. just impossible to believe this is how she really dressed around the Virgin and Our Lord. More Hollywood The Blessed Virgin is old and ugly, she didn’t look anything like described by St. Catherine Emmerich. Peter was not sitting at a cozy file quietly talking with Jesus when he was told he would deny him 3 times. When did this happen exactly? Jesus just saw these events in the Garden of Olives. So Jesus got cleaned up, they built a file and they chatty chatted quietly before being arrested? No. The scenes of blood were pretty good but in particular the head of Jesus - had a full head of hair the entire movie when the mystics and demons said he had less than half his hair left. In reality the scenes were not gruesome enough. The book Dolorous Passion is way better than this movie. Sorry Mel lovers. Not a fan. The book is way better. I’m not really looking forward to the Resurrection movie now that I’ve had a taste of the real books vs Mel’s interpretations Here’s a direct except. Hard for me to trust his choices… “I once more saw the Blessed Virgin; her countenance was wan and pale, her eyes red with weeping, but the simple dignity of her demeanour cannot be described. Notwithstanding her grief and anguish, notwithstanding the fatigue which she had endured (for she had been wandering ever since the previous evening through the streets of Jerusalem, and across the Valley of Josaphat), her appearance was placid and modest, and not a fold of her dress out of place. She looked majestically around, and her veil fell gracefully over her shoulders. She moved quietly, and although her heart was a prey to the most bitter grief, her countenance was calm and resigned. Her dress was moistened by the dew which had fallen upon it during the night, and by the tears which she had shed in such abundance; otherwise it was totally unsoiled. Her beauty was great, but indescribable, for it was superhuman--a mixture of majesty, sanctity, simplicity, and purity. The appearance of Mary Magdalen was totally different; she was taller and more robust, the expression of her countenance Showed greater determination, but its beauty was almost destroyed by the strong passions which she had so long indulged, and by the violent repentance and grief she had since felt. It was painful to look upon her; she was the very picture of despair, her long dishevelled hair was partly covered by her torn and wet veil, and her appearance was that of one completely absorbed by woe, and almost beside herself from sorrow. Many of the inhabitants of Magdalum were standing near, gazing at her with surprise and curiosity, for they had known her in former days, first in prosperity and afterwards in degradation and consequent misery. They pointed, they even cast mud upon her, but she saw nothing, knew nothing, and felt nothing, save her agonising grief.”

@FightForMary @Nance726 I would agree she was not a prostitute. Then sorry for saying that. I'm just defending the fact that she is the penitent sinner. She was definitely a noble woman, being the sister of Lazarus and Mary of Bethany. Her sin heavily suggested was sexual immorality. Much worse tbh

🕯️Who is St. Mary Magdalene? For centuries, many people wrongly conflated Mary Magdalene with the anonymous sinful woman in Luke’s Gospel, and sometimes with Mary of Bethany. But Scripture does not say they are the same person. Mary Magdalene should be known for who she actually was: a healed woman, a devoted disciple, and the apostle to the Apostles. ❌St. Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute. She was not the “fallen woman” of popular imagination. 💠She was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, a woman delivered by His mercy, and one of the holiest witnesses in the Gospel. 📖Scripture tells us that Jesus cast seven demons out of Mary Magdalene. ❌That does not mean she was sexually immoral. It means she was deeply afflicted—and powerfully healed. 💠From that moment on, she followed Christ with love, loyalty, and courage. 💠She stood at the Cross when many others ran.
💠She went to the tomb while others hid.
💠And she became the first witness of the Resurrection—the first to hear the risen Lord speak her name. 🕊️This is why the Church honors her so highly: not because of the sins people later attached to her, but because of her fidelity to Christ. ✝️St. Mary Magdalene reminds us that God’s mercy is real, that healing is possible, and that those who love Christ deeply will recognize His voice. 🕊️St. Mary Magdalene Pray for us

Thanks! Satan hates winners! Meaningless trashing of her reputation is the sort of stuff he does and enjoys. 7 demons almost certainly means one for each deadly sin. Very common theme I was turned off by the Passion of the Christ because they made Mary Magdalene the woman who was being stoned, I didn’t see any real evidence of that. That’s a reach and when I watch these films I hate inaccuracies. Part of the problem why people think she’s a prostitute. My kid is watching I had to pause and explain. Most parents don’t know Also turned off since the above quoted showed Mary as majestic, pretty, pure, and Mary Magdalene to be falling apart. Look at the pic below. Mary is old and ugly. Mary Magdalene is younger, prettier, and looks like she’s been out clubbing all night. Every visionary accou t said Mary never ages. Mel must have missed that I can’t square the reading against the film. Honestly I’m not looking forward to the Resurrection movie He has a staff of “experts”. Not a fan. I mean if you are trying to really get close to God you should strive for accuracy

I’ll double down on my comments. Mel Gibson made Mary look old and ugly. There is way too much sex appeal on Mary Magdalene. Hollywood nonsense This is how he designed it the study before casting - there was no accident the readings are quite clear Not looking forward to his next interpretation of things

Neither St. Gregory the Great nor Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich EVER used the word “prostitute.” That word does NOT belong there — period. Gregory (Homily 33): called her “the sinful woman” freed from “all the vices.” No prostitute. Emmerich on her wealth: “When the patrimony was divided, the castle of Magdalum fell by lot to Magdalen. It was a very beautiful building.” A rich noblewoman, not a paid prostitute.

My source is Catherine Emmerich her visions were divine, she had a stigmata and lived off the Eucharist for 11 years She has a book on Mary Magdalene too She was wealthy. With 7 demons yeah the “whore” description makes sense, but in her case she had lots of money - street prostitutes do that when they are broke not well off. My personal interpretation. I wasn’t there. Of course you respect your elders and traditions but few get it all right all the time. I think Satan loves to stain the beautiful

@FightForMary @Nance726 Saint Gregory the Great was likely right in my opinion. And while not explicitly being called the sinful woman, while Luke's narrative suggests it. She did have 7 demons. Why did we let them take an icon of penitence from us? Saint Mary Magdalene, pray for us

SAINT JOESEPH - THE PUREST, THE GREATEST D: Saint Joseph is, after the Immaculate Conception, the greatest saint in heaven. After her comes her most chaste spouse, Saint Joseph, who—as we have already said—is, after her, the greatest saint in Heaven, after the Holy Trinity itself and the Immaculate Virgin. As a man, he is, after her, the purest, the greatest, far above all the saints. He had to endure far more trials and sufferings than we can imagine. Trials overwhelmed Saint Joseph with force and violence from his youth until the moment he was able to become engaged to her ABOVE. He had to endure immense trials and immense pain in order to be judged worthy by the Most High to become the fiancé of the purest creature that ever existed. There is no one except him who was found worthy, and no one else would have been found worthy, one might say, of a divine spouse so elevated in holiness...

@lovell_julius @FightForMary @MrCasey62 So if I told you my local congregation says that the Bible has 42 books, you would have no basis to disagree? Look, I get that you don't like the decisions the Catholic Church has made, but you cannot, on 1 hand, say "there is no binding authority" ...

SO ridiculously untrue. There’s a second Queen of Heaven “mentioned in the Bible”. Since Jesus is “mentioned in the Bible” as the eternal Davidic King in Heaven, & it’s “mentioned in the Bible” that Davidic Kings made their mothers Queen, then Mary HAS to be His Queen of Heaven.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PERSONAL APPEARANCE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN St. Catherine Emmerich, pray for us. During the harrowing events of Jesus's Passion, I was in Jerusalem, moving from place to place, overwhelmed by suffering, feeling as though I might die. While Jesus was being scourged, I sat nearby in an area Jews avoided for fear of ritual impurity, longing for even a drop of His blood to cleanse me. My heart was breaking, unable to help Jesus, and each lash felt like a blow to my own soul. After the scourging, when Jesus was taken to be crowned with thorns, I wanted to follow, to witness his suffering further. It was then that the Blessed Virgin, along with the holy women, came to the pillar to collect the blood that had fallen. Her appearance during this time was profoundly moving. Mary's face was pale and her eyes swollen from weeping, yet she carried herself with an indescribable dignity. Despite her immense sorrow and physical exhaustion from having wandered through Jerusalem and the Valley of Josaphat since the previous evening, she remained composed. Her veil draped gracefully, and her dress, though damp from dew and tears, was immaculate. Her beauty was beyond human description, embodying majesty, sanctity, simplicity, and purity. In stark contrast was Mary Magdalen, who was taller and robust, showing signs of past passions and deep repentance. Her beauty was marred by her history and current grief; she looked almost mad with sorrow, her hair disheveled, her veil torn and wet. People from Magdalum, recognizing her from her previous life, watched her with a mix of curiosity and scorn, some even throwing mud at her, but she was oblivious, consumed by her grief.

Warnings from Beyond@Warnings1975

EVEN IF THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON IN THE FAMILY WHO PRAYS THE ROSARY, HE CAN SAVE THE OTHERS B: That crown (of the rosary) is destroys me E: Speak better, in correct Italian. You are capable. Go ahead. B: Every Hail Mary blows my mind. E: Speak, without me having to tell you. Our Lady wants you to tell us the power of the holy rosary against you. B: It is a simple prayer that not everyone does. But the one who makes it is united to the life of Christ and Mary. And it blows my mind to hear that refrain. I can't stand it. I also get annoyed when people hold it in their hands, even when they're not praying it. I can't stand it. But she loves this prayer. E: Continue. B: And he who prays it in the family has a special protection from her. I can't go into that house. I have not been given permission. Because the power of the holy rosary in the family crushes me. E: Go on. B: And in those families, if there is only one person who prays it, he can save the others in the family. E: Oh Mary, I thank you for forcing this demon B to do this publicity, this catechesis on the rosary. O Mary, I would like to share it with many people, with your permission. Force him to speak. Go on. B: Her favorite mysteries are those of the Passion of Christ. For there is all the salvation of mankind. E: And the glorious ones are not? B: Also E: Continue. B: But to whomever recites the rosary, I come to disturb him. E: How? B: With thoughts. Distractions. E: But Our Lady thanks him anyway, right? B: Yes. E: Go ahead. B: You should pray with the children. Teach them this prayer before I come to bother them, because afterwards I steal their purity, that is, mothers should pray it for the children because I want to destroy the family and the young people. E: O Virgin, we thank you because you have given us the Rosary that you continue to recommend every time you appear. But we also thank you for these words of 'B' that in this exorcism I, your priest, am carrying out with the help and participation of six collaborators who pray and are at my side. Thank you, O Mary, if you still want to force Beelzebub to tell us something, I ask you to force him to continue. B: To whomever prays the rosary, she gives many thanks. Really many, many. And I can't stand it. Even the novenas are blowing my mind. I can't stand them. Above all, the novena to the Virgin Undoer of Knots. E: We like litanies a lot. I used to notice that you suffered from them. What do you say about litanies?. B: They crush me, they annoy me! E: Why? B: Because it is a continuous praise, praise, praise. E: But she deserves it. B: For you! E: But is she really your Queen, even if you don't recognize her? or not? B: Yes E: And after the litanies, what else can you tell us? Because not everyone says it when they finish the rosary. B: I know, I know. Those who don't pray them are mistaken. E: Oh how many beautiful things, Virgin, that you give us unexpectedly. Also through this devil whose name -at least he said the name- is B. We praise you, O Mary. Does she tell you to tell us something yet, or are you finished? Answer! B: I am finished. E: Then we pray, O Mary. (They pray the Hail Mary). O Mary, on this day of the Holy Rosary, today, October 7, 2019, we give you thanks I am your priest, exorcist from Milan. I thank you for this gift you have given us for your glory. So be it. Amen.
