I have accepted his decision to step down, and he has assured me of his unwavering commitment to the Government and the people of Fiji. I will be overseeing his portfolio responsibilities for the foreseeable future.

Hon. Kamikamica will remain a Member of Parliament and will focus on clearing his name in relation to the charges laid against him by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 Today, I received a communication from Hon. Manoa Kamikamica informing me of his decision to step down from Cabinet and from his position as Deputy Prime Minister.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, the Honourable Richard Marles MP, today officially handed over the purpose-built Vuvale Maritime Essential Services Centre to the Prime Minister of Fiji, the Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka, in a ceremony marking a new era in Pacific maritime security cooperation and the Vuvale partnership. The state-of-the-art facility represents a significant AU$83M (FJ$120M) investment in Fiji's capacity to safeguard its 1.3 million km² Exclusive Economic Zone and manage its 6.5 million km² Search and Rescue area of responsibility – challenges that are fundamental to both ocean sustainability and economic prosperity. The facility handover reflects the deep strategic partnership between Australia and Fiji in addressing shared maritime security priorities. The Centre will serve as a strategic enabler strengthening maritime security, enabling coordinated interagency responses to challenges ranging from illegal fishing to drug trafficking to surveillance over maritime protected areas to search and rescue.

This is about recognising heritage, ownership, and the unbreakable connection between our people and their land.

All existing leases on NG2 will now be administered by the iTaukei Lands Trust Board (TLTB) to ensure fair and sustainable management for the benefit of Mataqali Nadala.

This land was first acquired by the Colonial Government in 1905 for public purposes. That purpose has now ended, and it is only right that the land goes back to its people.

✅ Native Grant 2, Nadarivatu to be Reverted to Mataqali Nadala In our Cabinet meeting yesterday, we approved the return of Native Grant 2 (NG2) in Nadarivatu to its rightful owners Mataqali Nadala, Yavusa Nubu after more than 100 years.

I am confident that the two-thirds requirement is achievable, I know I have the numbers and I know that those who have joined us are also supporting this move. This is about keeping the promise we made to the people of Fiji.

We will also establish the Constitution Review Committee, their work will be to look into the Constitution and see what needs to be done. There will also be parliamentary committees that will also bring up ideas regarding our law.

Draft Amendment Bill Ready Yesterday in Nadi, I confirmed that a draft amendment bill to the 2013 Constitution is ready to be tabled in Parliament.
