The club looks set to finalize the Semenyo deal soon, and honestly, it feels like that might be the only business we get done this winter. Nunes has been genuinely brilliant (indispensable) at right-back, and in midfield you’re looking at Rodri and Kovacic returning, alongside Nico G, Rico, Reijnders and Bernardo. The idea of signing a central midfielder to ”cover” for Tijjani Reijnders feels strange to me and, frankly, doesn’t add up especially when you still have to think about replacing Bernardo and Kovacic, not to mention finding a natural successor/long-term solution for Rodri. Looked at properly, those rumours point less towards a single addition and more towards a full midfield haul in the summer, alongside a right-back. From that perspective, the planning actually makes sense. Even if Anderson doesn’t arrive this winter, it’s hardly disastrous. Securing Semenyo alone can still take us a long way. We’ll be fine.
