It’s really very simple. If any journalist has two seperate sources who have the same piece of information , it becomes a huge story. The Athletic are absolutely not passing up the chance to run “our sources confirm Pep has made a decision to leave Manchester City this summer”. Now does anyone believe that they know it but aren’t writing it because of the title run in or because the club don’t want them to? As if. Do we believe that the players don’t know or that they do and have been sworn to secrecy? As if. There are no secrets this big in football because there’s an industry that makes billions from “reporting”. What’s currently happening is no one actually knows so they’re all giving us their feelings.
