My assessment of the Fox News debate and the performance of all the candidates tonight: Vivek is slick. He doesn't have the experience to back it up, and many of his proposals are great sound bites but are impossible to do. DeSantis is substantive, his words strong and he can keep his promises. He's focused on the mission and stayed the course. But he needed to speak up more. Mike Pence performed above expectations, but he's incredibly unlikeable and his priorities are a mess. Nikki Haley stumbled over her words, and most of what she said was empty. Unimpressive. Tim Scott sounded like a pre-canned advertisement for generic conservatism. Asa Hutchinson and Doug Burghum failed to make any notable impact with talk about "competing with China." Read the room, guys. Chris Christie isn't running for president. He's on a platform to take down Donald Trump and every time he talks about the former president, it's entertaining. Even when he's not talking about Trump, he's talking about him. He also sounds like a normal person, which is a plus. Like his plus-size belt. Entertaining, but he isn't going to win anyone over.
