Okay, so this is why a movie I've never heard of won Best Picture at the Oscars last night!

The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness. They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon. Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned…how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity.

What kind of world do we live in where you have to defend selfless joy?

Nothing less valuable than, “I sat through 25 minutes of (name of Oscar-nominated movie) & bailed.” You’re telling us that either A) you don’t really like movies or B) you can’t envision a world where other people like something you don’t. Either way, you’re telling on yourself.

Don’t get me wrong I want to see Timmy win an Oscar, but the overdue narrative is weird to me…? Why are acting like he’s Glenn Close?

My earliest Oscars I watched w/ my dad, staying up way too late for a 7 year old. The last 35+ years I watched in-person or on the phone w/ my best friend, BK. Lost my dad 3 years ago. BK passed away last month. This Oscars is a sad one, hopefully they're tuning in up there. ❤️🙏

@alienprivateeye Yes and yes. Oscars or no Oscars, I enjoyed both. Train Dreams requires a little bit of patience and a willingness to accept it's not being told and a typical fashion. It is beautiful and resonatea in me still. The Secret Agent is spectacular, easier to consume, stellar cinema.

Is The Secret Agent and Train Dreams worth watching? Those are the last two best picture nominations I need to see.

It’s crazy how growing up the Oscars were such a big deal (kids staying up on a school night to watch, people throwing watch parties etc) and in such a short time no one seems to care about them anymore

The problem with DEI is that no one will believe that this movie deserves the Oscars it will inevitably win. The Oscars mean nothing now.

Remember, we can all like different things. What today is for is to celebrate the art and the artists. Today is not about winners and losers, it's about the joy of cinema and all the things it means to be human. Enjoy the show.

These films made the impossible possible and the real feel authentic. While this is not the flashiest year and some films do require a little patience and your attention, it's a year that made a mark on me. I hope Hollywood continues to make human stories, by humans & for humans.

It's Oscar day, which means my feed is full of people hating on films. This year's best picture nomination field is one of the best in recent memory. There's something for just about everyone. I truly enjoyed every film and had different emotional reactions to each. #oscars

@FilmSnork @sethduma @ralter she's likely cramming for an Oscars related article at the 11th hour, even though nominations were announced nearly 2 months ago and that's plenty of time to watch 10 best picture movies, in theaters even and at FYC events w filmmakers (without looking at your phone)
