I love @almamaderbrew because of their incredible, traditional lagers. But if this is the result of then using flavors and adjuncts in lagers, they should do more.

Double brew day tomorrow. Two hoppy lagers coming up - one single hopped with Vera and a dry hopped West Coast Pils. Grain bills are *almost* identical - The Vera hopped beer is a little bit bigger, higher ABV. Two 90 min boils in one day… What have I signed myself up for?

Another competition...two more medals. Thai Dive, our Gose with blood orange and basil and Gin and Juice, our thiolized jasmine rice lager with grapefruit peel and gin spices both won medals at Hoppy Halloween Homebrew Challenge!

No pictures of my father's day Czech pilsner brew day, but if you can hear the Scottish rock blaring from my basement, you know it's serious. @twinatlantic @BiffyClyro

Let’s talk about why inflation isn’t up, as economists predicted. It’s really simple. I see it in all my product based companies. 1. They borrow money or use their available cash to front run the tariffs and buy as much inventory as they can. 3, 6 months or longer. In many cases they get a better price because the mfg knows the risks post tariffs 2. But that cash is expensive. They either lose the ability to earn interest , (4pct) the ability to invest in other parts of their biz or they pay interest on a loan (10 to 20 pct ) 3. None of the above is a positive. Not having cash or add to their liabilities is a risk. 4. They see the on and off again tariffs in action , so they don’t know how long their inventory will have the value they expected 5. So they don’t raise prices. In fact they may even discount some as a way to clear out inventory and replenish cash or pay down expensive loans 6. This isnt just small companies. This is all companies facing this. This is why Walmart says they will be raising prices in the future. The variance in tariffs has made it impossible to know how to manage costs , so you do all you can to clear out inventory and get back to cash. And take your chances on tariffs not being as big as you feared. 7. This is why prices haven’t gone up to this point

I know there are a lot of great beers out there, but brew day during paternity leave beers have to be up there in the power rankings.

BKS pretty good at hazy IPAs, but this year's Pine Tree may be the best beer they've ever brewed. It tastes like spruce and juniper berries without being perfumy. You wouldn't think of a hazy as a Christmas beer, but this one works so well. It's awesome. @BKSArtisanAles

Enjoying a pint of the my latest attempt at a hazy IPA which just won bronze at the @zz_hops competition! Loving this batch. Still some room to grow, but we're getting close to something special! #homebrewing

Brewed a DIPA today with a Pliney style hop schedule. Hit my target OG of 1.074 with excellent yield. Enjoyed the last of my homebrewed Kölsch and West Coast IPAs from @OuterRangeBrew and @almamaderbrew while I did it. Today was a good day.

Added a Gold for an Irish Stout and a Silver for a Hefeweizen tonight at @RedEarthBrewers spring competition! That means 8 total medals with 5 different beers at 3 spring competitions this year, including 2 gold and a second best in show! Can't wait for the fall competitions.

I'm now obsessing over creating the perfect Kölsch. Batch #1 is pretty great! More than a lot of the local Kölsch beers here in KC, it really hits that desired soft mouth feel. But it didn't clear up... And I'm fixated on correcting this. #homebrew (mine is on the left)

Oh no, the American IPA I brewed last Thursday got infected. This hasn't happened in a while and I have no idea how it happened. Guess I'm going to have to tear the entire brew area down and clean.
