@AdamJoseph Doesn't 6th place get UCL because of Villa's UEL win? This all sounds great though, I can't quite decide whether I want Chelsea to have the distraction of the conference league next season or miss out on Europe completely.

Manchester United win, Bruno Fernandes breaks the assist record, Academy players getting minutes, having some big moments in the process. Tottenham stay up, West Ham goes down & Mateus Fernandes moves closer to an Old Trafford move. Bournemouth beat Forest & Brentford beat Liverpool - so they finish 6th & miss Champions League. Villa spoil Pep's farewell at the Emptyhad, Chelsea finish their season in misery with a loss at Sunderland. Too much to ask for as the ideal script for today?

@Altgthr Speaking as someone who watches loads of football, the PL would be a poorer division without Spurs; them vs Utd/Arsenal/City/Chelsea/Liverpool is eminently more watchable/entertaining compared to WHU in those same fixtures. I'd like it to be a dramatic last minute escape though.

Send West Ham down and we will get that Fernandes kid. As much as it would be funny to see Spurs get relegated, I do have a pet hate for The Hammers so…..f*ck em.

@SibsMUFC Agreed, I'm really surprised that he's not been selected though. He'd be one of England's biggest aerial threats at corners & has a lot of tournament experience. I think England may well regret not picking him.

@Ole_is_right I'm a liberal Brit who likes watching the drama of American politics from across the pond; I really do think the post-Trump version of the GOP that will start to emerge from his shadow in 2029 really needs Massie to win this election. I hope he emerges victorious.

I often claim Kentucky as my home state. I went to high school there. I played sports there. I spent multiple years living part-time in Kentucky and two other state. I own some property and a business in Kentucky to this day. My family built our business there— it consumed our lives; paid for my parents’ retirement and my college; and allowed my parents to change dozens of lives when they gave our employees a share of the proceeds from the sale I just really, really wish I voted in Kentucky’s elections, so I could cast my vote for Massie today. He’s one of the few genuinely good people in congress. He’s someone who stands up for what is right, as he has done with the Epstein survivors. He represents the constitution, and the founders’ idea of American government, better than anyone else in office. And he is a genuinely smart man— something I’d never say about anyone else in office.

Thomas Massie: "I vote with Republicans 91% of the time. And the 9% I don't, they're taking up for pedophiles, starting another war, or bankrupting our country." An absolute mic drop. 🎤⬇️

@AnnieEaves I'd really like to see someone interview Webb and make him explain the difference between this Brighton goal & Cunha's goal yesterday; and then ask him why his opinion on this type of incident has changed enough to warrant an apology to Forest. Neither goal should've stood, IMO.

This is huge. Please click through and watch the video. And then wonder why Webb has thrown an official under the bus this time when he was very happy to defend that on TV. It is essentially the same application of the rules.

@AnnieEaves Fully agree and the same Howard Webb was happy with this identical handball earlier in the season skysports.com/football/video…

@Auntiewonk @AnnieEaves Although even as a Man Utd fan I thought the goal should have been ruled out, I did like the fact that the ref had the courage to go against VAR advice. We need to see more of that going forward.

@AnnieEaves Is it any wonder the refs are terrified of making an on field decision these days. They then makes the quality of refereeing in general far worse.

Imagine being a ref and you think you’ve made correct decision by rules. Then you’re told in your ear VAR is checking and you have to consider “football’s expectations”. You dismiss VAR, because rules, then your boss throws you under the bus whilst saying decision justifiable.

@Altgthr I always say that if you're going to comment on the fairness of a VAR decision-you should always consider what your position would be if the teams were reversed.I'd have been furious if that goal had been given against Utd;maybe good/bad VAR fortune does even out over the season.

I have to say, having watched that goal back last night (the Cunha one) I am amazed handball wasn’t given. Obviously delighted with the goal, but bloody hell, what are these refs doing?

@iAmJoshHunt Agreed, I was (and still am) a Remainer. However, If the centre left put rejoining the EU back on the table, they will lose; there's a lot of single issue Leave voters who'd come to the ballot box to vote against whichever major party suggested rejoining the EU.

At some point, something is going to blow in this country. I think we’re about to see all manner of dirty deals, dodgy alliances, and political volatility at a scale we’ve not seen for a very long time. I’m increasingly of the view that the next election will be one of extremes… rejoin the EU on one side, mass deportation on the other. Bringing Brexit back to the political main stage could spell absolute disaster. The coming months and years are gonna be wild.

@colinmufc2 It's unbelievable how many people either don't know the offside rule, or are straight up lying to farm engagement. You can be disappointed for Hearts, it's so tough on them; but there's no need for this ridiculous discourse.

@AdamJoseph Speaking as a Celtic fan I absolutely agree that VAR shouldn't have overturned the on-field decision on Wednesday, but Celtic certainly won fair & square today. If Man Utd had been in Celtic's position, I'm pretty sure you'd take the wins without too many complaints.🤷

That is heartbreaking. After the controversy of what happened with one of the worst VAR decisions in the history of technology in football, an 88th minute dagger for Celtic. Hearts deserve better than this. They have been utterly robbed. Farcical how this has ended.

@HLTCO As a Celtic fan, I'd have been furious if that penalty had been given to Motherwell. I would say VAR is relatively new in the SPL, and this decision is reminiscent of some of the early VAR decisions that we saw in the first couple of years of VAR being implemented in the PL.

I’m puzzled by why only one angle of it was shown and why the referee has so quickly given that after what looks like a single viewing of the incident. It may well have hit his hand but it feels like a quick turnaround for a decision of that magnitude.

@__scottsaunders Yep, you see the same thing happen in politics too. Substance is dying. Re. Raya foul,if it'd just been the arm across him,I think you could argue that he should have been stronger (as Bayindir should've been on opening day),it's the sharp tug on his back which is the big issue.

@BenDesigned UCL would've been a coin toss,as it was when Amorim was sacked. Based on PPG under Amorim this season of 1.55,we'd be on 56 points(-9 points, 1 ahead of 6th); the fixtures in 2nd half of the season have also been slightly tougher,we'd likely have had less than 56 points & no UCL.

GENUINE question: In your opinion, would Amorim have gotten CL football this season & Manchester United’s current position of 3rd, if he had stayed? If you don’t think he would’ve, but should still be here, why?

@ElMago21_ England is fundamentally a conservative nation with a right wing media. Labour generally win elections when The Tories have driven themselves out of power; & as everyone gets poorer, the "immigrants are bad & we'll cut taxes" message is a simple & effective message, unfortunately.

England, help me understand… The Tories ransacked the public purse during a national health crisis, ran public services into the ground & laughed in your face. You finally saw who they were & voted them out. They ‘Reform’ed under another name. And you voted them back in? 😂

@AdamJoseph Heaven was very unlucky to be dropped yesterday, and he should start the last 2 games of the season. Licha can't be opening himself up to the risk of a red for nonsense like this; if he can't manage his temperament properly, then he shouldn't be starting.

Was very disappointed to see Lisandro Martinez doing this crap. Ultimately he is a senior player, only regulars who are older than him are Mazraoui, Fernandes, Maguire & Casemiro. Whether or not his suspension was deserved, he has to be more accountable.

@SibsMUFC It's a credit to Casemiro that it'll probably take 2 players to replace him. I think those 2 midfielders really need to come from PL teams so that they can hit the ground running. Anything is possible if we get a fast start & PL proven players give us a better chance of that.
