I responded that by that logic being attracted to people close to your own age is like being attracted to your siblings. If one claim is sound, both are.

One reason many Catholics no longer go to confession frequently is that the sacrament subtly drifted from “confession and absolution” toward “spiritual counseling.” Most Catholics are willing to accuse themselves of sins briefly and regularly. Fewer are willing to enter into an extended personal conversation every few weeks. The traditional confessional, the screen, brevity, clarity, and sacramental reserve all lowered the barrier to grace. The sacrament felt objective, medicinal, and accessible rather than emotionally burdensome. Confession is not primarily therapy or spiritual direction. It is sacramental mercy.

This is the most common response in the “video game discourse”, but I am sorry this just isn’t true.
Leisure time is any time you are not obligated by external responsibilities.
Most modern science was created as a leisure activity. As were most great novels and writing.
My entire blog side-hustle is “leisure time” that I fit in between family time and my full time job.

This is genuinely heartbreaking.
Those those in their 20s-30s and have no plans to settle down and have children, trust me, time goes quicker than you think.
It takes effort to marry, conceive, give birth and raise children.
You have to start when you are able, time will pass.

I am 51 and deeply regret not having kids. I was stringently brainwashed into believing that I should never have children. I’ve never even been pregnant as far as I know. I was on birth control from age 16 through age 49.

Moni älähtää selkäydinreaktiona, että kyllä työn pitää viedä mahdollisimman paljon ihmisen valveillaoloajasta ja lisäpisteitä vielä siitä, jos se työ on todella raskasta ja ankeaa.
Itse näen, että kehitys on ollut pitkällä aikavälillä varovaisen positiivinen - viikkotuntimäärät ovat laskeneet historiallisista huippulukemista, eikä lauantaikaan ole enää normaali työpäivä. Samaan aikaan perinteisistä arkipyhistä on onnistuttu pitämään kiinni, jotka tarjoavat monille työntekijöille tärkeän hengähdystauon hektisen arjen keskellä.
Seuraava pitkän aikavälin tavoite tulisikin olla nelipäiväinen työviikko. Vasemmistoliitto on tämän teeman osalta edelläkävijä, mutta tärkeää aihetta on turha jättää vain yhden puolueen jutuksi.
