Big Mike’s – A Closing Note Sunday was our last service at Big Mike’s This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. It feels like failure, but it isn’t. We’re proud of what we achieved, we shot for the stars, poured everything into it — heart, soul, sweat, tears, life savings, even the house deposit — but the brutal truth is the maths just don’t math anymore. The industry is facing unsurmountable challenges. We gave it our very best I’m proud of my team, grateful to our guests, suppliers and FWBs all of whom have been incredibly understanding. My final act as gaffer is to go to bat for my staff so they land safely in new homes and ensure they are fully supported. Many of them have been with me a long time and I’m determined to assist them moving forward. @MichaelsCoDub just wanted to thank your team for a spectacular experience in #BigMikes last wkend. Visited from Cork with my mum, and two adult nieces who live in Dublin. All there for the first time and all left satisfied and very, very happy.

@corkcitycouncil Seems a number of people have decided that the green space at #theLough is suitable for parking. The silver car has been there since around 5pm today. We’ve seen an increase in rubbish left behind for a while now but this is a step beyond.

Additional cars have arrived, they’ve erected a goal, and are clearly holding some kind of event. I’m all for community events - I love seeing the space used, but parking on the grass is not part of that

Hi @sendboyle I noticed the silver car parked on the grass by the Lough around 5pm today. Seems it’s been joined by others now. Can you help? I know you’ll agree this is not a car park and our very limited green space in the city needs to be protected.

Six and a half weeks ago, I couldn’t move. Now I can, a bit. Still numb down one side, and still can’t walk unaided. No damage to my cognition, and speech is good, though not perfect. Long way to go, and I have no idea how far I’ll get, but it’s a start! 🙏
