Spent a lot of time looking at screens this past couple of weeks. I'm very blessed that I live really close to the sea, so instead of just rushing to the nearest shop for bread, I drove a bit further and strolled by the sea first #anglesey #selfcare #slowoccupations

@OT_LauraF I learned recently that the word 'therapist' comes from the name for followers of Aesclepius, Greek God of medicine and the healing arts, the 'Therapeutae'. The Rod of Asclepius, entwined with snake, symbolises this in the old RCOT logo. So we should be proud to be therapists.

@ClareTaylorBU I'm sure it wasn't you! 🤣 And, to be fair I deserved that one. I'm glad we have moved on to more constructive and helpful feedback to today's students, though. ☺

@FionaJoyOT My comments could be pithy but ‘hardly’ wasn’t something I remember writing

Found my undergrad dissertation yesterday while clearing. I still think it's pretty good! Annotations consisted of a few ticks ✔ and some sarky one-word comments, like "hardly". Useless feedback 🙄 #otsudents #feedback #occupationaltherapy

@LLedger1 @Keirwales Totally agree... and I also feel kind of sad that we need to say it though. 😔
English

@ClareTaylorBU Haha not you! I honestly can't remember... Tell me it wasn't you?! 🤣🤣

This is a condition that I was born with. Back then, there was no support for families and OA/TOF was seen as a paediatric condition, 'fixed' at intial surgery, but actually the impact is lifelong and needs an MDT approach #longtermcondition #RareDiseaseDay2023
TOFS@NEWSFORTOFS
Did you know over 300 million people worldwide suffer from rare diseases? #OA / #TOF is a condition that affects 1 in every 3,500 babies born. Please help us raise awareness of #oa #tof and share this post. tofs.org.uk #tofs #oatof #RareDiseaseDay

@FionaJoyOT Ah I had a bit of an epic fail as I bought 1x1m thinking J had an absolute bargain 6’x4’ and then had to top up with three 6’x4’ mats 😂
English

Finished the mats in the stable! Stanley knife blade changed with eye protection, sticky tape and pliers; one major fail of spatial awareness and cut a tile in mirror image. Only one tiny gap. All
Digits intact! #smallholdingdream

@RachaelD_OT I'm probably not the best role model (have a tendency to leave jobs with no next step in place) but I have found it usually works out ok in the end. ☺

2023 is already turning out to be quite the year. After submitting my resignation in January (unplanned but necessary), I will be unemployed as of this time next month!
So, what next? I have no idea! Answers on a postcard, please 🫣 #OccupationalTherapy #OT

Been doing virtual halfway visits for #OTstudents on placement this week. There have been a few tears, plenty of smiles and some very deep reflections on practice. (And that's just me 🤣). #lovemyjob #OccupationalTherapy

@KatrinaBannigan @GcuOcc @AnitavAHP Do you think a big issue is around educator confidence and perception of 'teaching' v facilitation of learning? I did my Masters in 2011 on placement supervision and back then it was a huge issue. Eg one student is seen as time-consuming, so two is seen as double the work.

Happy Valentines occupational therapists
Is it time to #ShareTheLove?
@GcuOcc @AnitavAHP @KatrinaBannigan are asking occupational therapists to step-up to get involved in #PeerAssistedLearning (PAL) and take a minimum of two students on every placement (1/4)

Many years ago a friend and I went on a splinting course. We decided bright colours and fur trim was the way to go...! I confess have never made a splint in the line of duty, but if I did, they would look like these! Fabulous ❤
