The Napa County Tax Collector's office in California is having residents property tax checks stolen “The checks are being stolen and altered through a type of fraud called check washing” They’ve had over 60 checks stolen just in the last 2 days Just in 2 days roughly $2 million in property tax checks have been stolen. The checks are even being caused in other states One vineyard had a check for over $225,000 cashed and stolen by fraudsters California is number 1 for fraud
