The way this works for me is if we make Krueger darker than he's ever been. Pure evil.
The inspiration for Freddy came from a number of things that terrified Wes Craven. The audience needs to feel that same terror.

What an incredible ride EVIL DEAD BURN (2026) is. I found it far more engaging and entertaining than RISE (2023), but not as good as Álvarez's EVIL DEAD (2013).
With its creative and brutal sequences, BURN puts the 'evil' back into EVIL DEAD - and I loved it. 🔥

@RonD84 Yeah, I don't get it. Believable and likeable characters, ferocious pace, one brutal moment after another, great setting... it ticks a lot of boxes and sure felt like an EVIL DEAD movie to me - we live in a world of negativity, sadly. I don't know what some people want.

Interesting to note that this is a situation somewhat similar to the Friday the 13th rights. Craven Estate has the rights to first screenplay, nothing beyond that. In the case of Elm Street, that gives them pretty much everything important. Nancy. Freddy. All of it. Good news!
