Hillel didn’t “fund war crimes.” It supports Jewish students visiting Israel, including trips where some volunteer with the IDF, their country’s military defending against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. Student senates have no right to police private associations or Jewish self-defense while ignoring countless other groups. This isn’t accountability; it’s selective punishment of an org which supports Jewish students on campus, stripping resources from cultural/religious life while falsely claiming this has anything to do with “international law.” Jew hate disguised as social justice hides in such targeted boycotts. Hillel raises its own funds too—defund attempts like this expose the bigotry, not any “crime.”

American activist Hannah Claire Smith, who was aboard a Global Sumud Flotilla vessel when Israeli forces illegally intercepted the convoy in international waters near Crete on Wednesday night, is calling on Americans and international audiences to demand the release of two of her colleagues abducted and transferred to Israeli custody.
The two are Thiago de Avila, a Brazilian national, and Saif Abukeshek, a Spanish-Swedish national with Palestinian ID. Both were separated from other passengers and, according to their legal representatives, beaten, blindfolded, and held in isolation for days at sea before being transferred to an Israeli prison, where they remain in detention. More than 200 other participants were eventually released.
Legal advocates say the seizure, which took place roughly 80 nautical miles west of Crete, far from Israeli waters, had no basis in international law.

Incredible. Everyone from HuffPost to Drudge recognizes that surging jet fuel prices took down Spirit, but Neera points to a failed previous merger that a Republican judge ruled was illegal.
Why would she run cover for Trump in this moment? Because it’s more important for her to settle scores with the Warren wing antitrust Dems that she fights with over corporate power.
(Had the illegal merger gone through, there’d still have been mass layoffs and routes cut and maybe both would be going under now. Her argument is without merit but full of spite.)

Given the news today that Spirit Airlines is shuttering and thousands of people are losing their jobs, I think we should honestly assess whether the Garland DoJ stopping the JetBlue merger with Spirit Airlines was the right call. The New School just sent an angry email to its student body saying that despite the vote of the student senate, Hillel will still get funding. The administration criticized the senate for trying “to hold students responsible for the acts of governments.”
Note: In this case, the students are literally funded to go to Israel and play a support role for the IDF.
