USGS researchers are working with Tribal, nonprofit, academic, state and federal partners to better understand dam removal in the Klamath River and to explore how salmon repopulate habitats open again for the first time in over 100 years. This dam removal project, the largest in U.S. history, opened over 400 miles of habitat to Chinook salmon, coho salmon, and steelhead! Can anyone ID this creepy fella? Flushed out of some silt while retrieving an acoustic receiver from a southern Ontario river yesterday. Length was 3–4 inches.

@muskie_time Though it was a little worn, this is rather normally shaped. Blue suckers (Cycleptus elongatus) are known for their elongated dorsal fins!

@FishPullano Is he missing a chunk out of his dorsal fin or is that how its normally shaped? I'm only familiar with redhorses lol.

@FishPullano Keep an eye out for blue suckers with a Floy T-bar tag below their dorsal. We tagged a bunch of fish back in the day.
