Photographs taken from the site indicate the fixed-wing aircraft destroyed during the rescue of the F-15E WSO was a C-130J Super Hercules, identified by its distinctive six-bladed turboprop engines.
In addition, the images show a burnt rotor assembly from a Boeing AH-6 Little Bird, identified by its distinctive star-shaped central hub flange.
The AH-6 would not become mired in soft ground, and the terrain in the photographs appears dry and firm.

@UKikaski I used to think this was a good page.
Of course they are close by, they all are. This means they were not shot down. They flew back to the C130s. C130s were stuck. Instead of screwing around with them while getting shot at they deassed leaving the planes and birds behind.

According to the New York Times, the aircraft were blown up on the ground to prevent their capture by Iranian forces after landing at an improvised refueling point.
