The reason people miss the 90s isn’t just nostalgia. Life was slower. Quieter. Less demanding. We weren’t designed to process constant noise, updates, and stimulation all day.

Major media outlets tend to have a consistently anti-supplement bent. "Get vitamins and minerals from food" is great advice. It also requires lifestyle changes most people won't follow. E.g., eating sardines for Omega-3s and pumpkin seeds for magnesium. Many people don't need supplements. But some supplements likely benefit a lot of populations (older adults, highly active people, etc). I wish these stories investigated more of the nuance.

Breaking Points with @krystalball and @esaagar has been phenomenal the last few weeks. It’s always great but it’s been particularly excellent covering the Epstein stuff. Best news show out there. @ryangrim and @emilyjashinsky are great too. You should follow them all.

Trump and Mamdani giving the country a vision of what bottom v top rather than left v right politics could look like is, if not historic, a genuinely novel development

@Alan_Couzens Staying calm is a big X-factor there...Also make sure wetsuit fits properly. Helps with the calm factor. The number of athletes I've seen in too tight (often old) wetsuits who get in the water, struggle to breathe and freak out is not small.

It was interesting to see that people are more concerned about the swim than running a full marathon after a century+ bike ride. I would say that, if you have a wetsuit, & decent shoulder mobility (and you stay calm), fitness-wise, the swim is the easiest of the cut-offs.

@Alan_Couzens @cloudsider Serious question - is it really that hard for a person in reasonable but not well trained shape to beat the Ironman cut off time? I would have guessed it was miserable but doable? I appreciate that executing an Ironman well is a completely different sort of challenge.

@Alan_Couzens Women #5, too? Might be a bridge too far. A nice clipper cut with a fade, been there. But can't take it down to the bone...way too long to get the locks back with all those awful in between stages...

The 5 things everyone should do at some point in their life (with no explanation given) 1/ Do an Ironman (duh!) 2/ Work for yourself 3/ Live in a different country 4/ Take your body fat under 10% (20 for women) 5/ Shave your head.

@esaagar Pretty sure gross goes in income and the losses go in the deductions, you wouldn't net it out in the same spot. (My great aunt and uncle were professional gamblers and had to deal with this)

Just arrived in Philly. Have yelled “How bout them Cowboys?!” 6 times in various places. It’s not even 11 AM. Moreover I am not a Cowboys fan.
