My 2 year old son is 3 weeks out from his kidney transplant.
I want to invite my brothers and sisters in Christ to pray.
I truly believe in the efficacy of prayer so I’ll share some specific requests.
1. Pray for his bladder. I know that sounds strange, but this is the #1 concern at the moment. His badder hasn’t been connected to his kidney since he was 3 months old. And it is currently too small. This has the potential of damaging his new kidney, and it could result in him having to live with nephrostomy bags.
In summary, please pray that his bladder expands after the transplant.
2. Please pray that his body accepts the new kidney.
3. Please pray for the surgery itself. Both for my sister-in-law who is donating her kidney, and for my boy.
4. Please pray for my wife and I. Pray that we would hold fast to Christ through this trying season & that we would be filled with that sweet peace that passes understanding.
5. Please pray that God would (continue) to provide for our financial needs. God has been so generous with us through his people. We know it would be pure foolishness to worry about this as God has been so faithful to provide thus far. I am praying that God would provide, not just enough for this transplant, but also for his second and third transplants.
Many do not know this, but kidney transplants have a shelf life. He will likely need several more throughout his life. My goal is to raise enough so that he never has to worry about the financial side of his medical problems.

My son’s one good kidney is failing. Please pray for Caleb’s transplant surgery. As of this last appointment we are officially in the process of scheduling Caleb’s kidney transplant. This will be Caleb’s 6th surgery in his 3 years on this earth, and by far the most serious. He has some rather complicated complications that heighten the possibility of rejection among other issues. You can specifically be praying that his bladder (which has not been connected or functioning since his first major surgery) actually functions properly and doesn’t end up damaging his new kidney. My wife and I are consistently tempted to Fear and anxiety for our son’s future, but God has remained faithful in comforting us and giving us faith in his redemptive promises. If you want to help… Please pray for a successful surgery with no complications. Please pray that my wife and I increase in faith as we face these trials. Also pray that God continues to provide for our mounting financial needs related to Caleb‘s ongoing medical attention. If you want to help, please consider buying a “Kidney for Caleb T-shirt.” Our great hope is to sell 5k T-shirts. It’s a huge goal, but we serve a huge God who does incredible things!

“When I left San Francisco and flew to Vietnam, the flight that took 22 hours, and because of the time change, we arrived the same day. I am from Oregon where the temperature is pretty moderate all year round.
