Miami currently allows developers to close sidewalks for years of construction. For a single round trip, a pedestrian or wheelchair user must cross dangerous traffic 4 times. DDA staff understood this must stop. 2/2 @ralphrosado305 @damianpardo8 @downtownmia #mobility #Dignity

Gratified to join Miami Commissioner/DDA chair Ralph Rosado plus District 2 Commissioner Damian Pardo on a walk along historic Flagler. I am emphasized that the sidewalk should be maintained during all construction. 1/2 @ralphrosado305 @damianpardo8 @downtownmia #ADA #pedestrian

Hate to tell you but #Miami officials are clueless about public transit. All they have to do is model a system like Chicago, Philadelphia or Boston. But they think buses are only form of transit rather than making sure trains go in every direction across metro area. @FixMetroMDT

Miami is a beautiful city that legitimately has all the potential in the world to be one of the world’s premier destinations You know what it deserves: a functional and expansive public transit system. Traffic is just out of control in this place

The fact that the Metrorail doesn’t go to Miami beach (one of THE most popular suburbs of Miami) is seriously such an embarrassing policy failure
Legacy of Cangelosi@Cangelosifan

@the_transit_guy Agreed. The metrorail needs to go much further south and west of where it currently does. Also need a line out to Miami beach.

Yes, a MetroMover extension to the port is the likely best option. I have drawn a potential high level alignment of that, although it would likely need additional stops, one for each terminal, and express service to each. This would directly connect the port of miami visitors with numerous hotels across the urban core, parking facilities (that are already used for port overflow parking), and the mterorail, tri-rail and brightline, it is a no-brainer. The only people I think would be opposed to a metromover extension to the Port would be the Taxis and rideshare companies.

We’ve received a lot of feedback on bike lanes in Downtown on NE 5th ST based on a story that ran on CBS. To be clear, we are not in favor of removing bike lanes. We are currently exploring how to make NE 5th ST safe for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers while together moving traffic more safely and efficiently. Part of that effort involves redesigning the street and bike lanes to include elevating the lanes and/or changing the infrastructure. The urban core represents a cluster with the highest incidence of cyclist fatalities and serious injuries in Miami Dade. And Miami Dade ranks first among similarly sized cities in the State and in the nation. We understand how important mobility options and connectivity are in the urban core and throughout our City, and as a cyclist myself, I witness firsthand the need to improve safety, cycling lanes, street design and traffic. On Northeast 5th Street, which is a major corridor and key route to the Port of Miami and the Fire Station, illegal parking in the bike lane has become a life threatening issue. When cars block the lane, it creates hazards for cyclists and pedestrians, and it contributes to congestion and gridlock for everyone. On weekends, cruise passengers carry their luggage across Biscayne Blvd to the Port. Miami Police have issued just under 100 citations in the past three months alone. Enforcement is not enough. We need structural changes. Our goal is simple: safer streets, better traffic flow, and mobility solutions that work for the neighborhood today and in the future. #safetyfirst @LSewardWCPO @CBSMiami @downtownMIA @CityofMiami @OmniCRA

@kaufsports @MiamiHerald @HeraldSports Amazing how these stadiums are built and then they wait until it is finished to figure out how people are supposed to get there...which means lack of parking.

because of what use is a public bus filled with people that’s forced to share a road with a bajillion private vehicles, the majority of which occupied by not more than one person (the driver)

public transit system. As a result, the bus was constantly getting stuck in traffic, moving only a few inches every 5 minutes (and this bus, route 100, was absolutely packed to the brim mind you) The least Miami can do is add BRT lanes

@MichaelBruner @nickgillespie @DrPopCultureUSA Miami public transit is terrible and basically non-existent at night. Miami is a decent size city and your options are deal with the shitty public transport, buy a car or uber everywhere.

🍔🥤 This is a nice initiative from Inter Miami to try and promote the use of public transit for the Nu Stadium opener. 🚙🅿️ But it is also a clear sign that the parking situation is going to be an absolute nightmare. #InterMiamiCF #Messi

It's awful in most US cities (and can be dangerous in NYC) when I lived in Miami, taking a bus/metro rail was pain in the ass. Buses were chronically late, metro had weird people on them, zero policing or monitoring. The metromover (free) was kind of cool to go from Brickell to Downtown but it always had bums and drunks on it. When I moved to Europe (Poland) - I can take rail/tram and it covers pretty much 80% of the city of Warsaw. With minimal walking and zero parking concerns. However, most regional residents drive to nearest rail station, park and ride downtown with 5 min walk to their offices.
