Massachusetts could soon require helmets, age limits, lights, brakes, and insurance rules for e-bikes, scooters, mopeds, and other micromobility devices under a new proposal filed by Governor Maura Healey.

This is a very common arrangement actually. Especially in larger cities. I’ve had multiple friends in setups like this with men who were either 1) married, or 2) aged out of the competitive dating market. My guess is a lot of the married men didn’t want the moral implications of sleeping with another woman, but still wanted female company, emotional intimacy, validation, novelty, etc. And a lot of the older men likely had ED or lower libido but still wanted proximity to women and femininity. And per yesterday’s post… this is the reality of waiting until you’re decades past your prime and then being told you’ll suddenly have unlimited authentic romantic options because you accumulated money or status. A lot of what actually ends up available is negotiated companionship. Not raw mutual desire.

“A girl I’m seeing has a Sugar Daddy arrangement. He’s an older guy who pays her rent and buys her stuff, but they don’t have sex” Strike from your mind that they’re NOT having sex. To believe that is to be willingly naive. YOU don’t have to call her out on it, your smirk is enough.

@brianatheroux Who’s telling men that? No one tells men that. They think it’s a good idea and they come to this conclusion on their own. Most of them know these women are with them for other reasons and they don’t care. I don’t see where the problem is. No one is getting hurt

Per yesterday’s post. These men genuinely believing women prefer massive age gaps are delusional. And I don’t know why we collectively keep lying to men about this as though it’s compassionate. It’s not. It’s actually pretty fucked up. We all age. No one escapes that. But telling men they’ll inspire the same kind of raw, involuntary desire from a woman in her physical prime when they are decades past theirs is a fantasy. It’s a comforting fantasy for aging men. That doesn’t make it true. And yes, exceptions exist. Human beings are varied. Some women prioritize money. Some prioritize stability. A small percentage genuinely connect with older men. Life is messy and age gaps absolutely happen. But people need to stop pretending that’s the baseline female preference because it clearly is not. Most young women overwhelmingly date within proximity to their own age and life stage when left to pure attraction and free choice. There’s also a difference between *a woman is willing to be with you* and *a woman viscerally desires you.* Men keep acting like those things are the same. They aren’t. One is access. The other is genuine erotic polarity. Good, enthusiastic, unfaked sex. If you actually care about authentic desire (and not simply securing a body for sex) then that’s something best pursued when you yourself are in your own physical mating prime. Not decades later after spending years optimizing status and resources while assuming desire can simply be purchased back on demand. It can’t. Not in the same way. A lot of these manosphere narratives are basically revenge fantasies against aging and rejection. But biology does not stop applying to men because it hurts their feelings. Women age. Men age. Everyone does. The healthiest people are the ones who adapt to that reality instead of building entire ideologies around trying to outrun it.

Betty Broderick died in prison this week. She was the woman convicted of killing her ex-husband, Dan Broderick, and his new wife, Linda—the woman he had an affair with during their marriage. She became one of the most infamous “scorned woman” stories in America. And let me be very clear: I do not condone murder. But I also refuse to pretend Betty Broderick’s story is only a story about murder. It is also a story about what can happen when a woman helps build a man’s life, his career, his family, his status—and then gets discarded, destabilized, legally cornered, financially stripped, publicly humiliated and painted as crazy when she finally breaks. Betty Broderick is very close to my heart because her story is not just about rage. It is about erasure and the people and systems who kick her down, and then remark on how “unstable” she is. It is about a woman watching the life she helped build get rewritten without her in it. It is about motherhood being weaponized and the court system being used not as a place of protection, but as another arena of control. It is about society looking at the final explosion and refusing to examine the years of pressure that came before it. The media made her into a monster because that was easier than asking harder questions: What happens to a woman when the marriage consumes her youth, her body, her labor, her identity and her motherhood — and then the system tells her she is the problem for collapsing? What happens when the man who helped destroy her gets to remain respectable and honorable? Wjat happens when she loses her entire identity and the man who stole it gets to keeps his? Again, murder is murder. But if all we can say about Betty Broderick is “she was crazy,” then we are still participating in the same erasure that helped destroy her. Some women do not “snap” out of nowhere. They break in public after being dismantled in private for years.

@SueOC_NBCBoston @kerryjax71 While I think this kind of satire is improper for anyone let alone public figures, these people do need to be held accountable by both parties for their corruption. I would assume you are against the violent rhetoric coming from the left as well. No self regulation from both.

Growing up on gritty Shirley Ave in Revere in the '60s and '70s, I expected better from “civilized” society, especially in the far-off future of the next millennium. Approaching 65, I never imagined this much vulgarity and menace coming from every level of it.

It truly seems there may have been a mismatch in assigned roles. Women are running circles around men both in education and obtaining employment right now. Meanwhile, so many men swear being a SAH parent is the easiest and most desirable job in the world. So let nature take its course - women can be the breadwinners and men can be in the caretaking role. I see nothing wrong with this.

He is 100% correct. When I was a stay at home dad it was the easiest most carefree, most relaxing time of my life. It was so rich and fulfilling being around my daughter all day every day, and then I would work nights after she went to sleep. All the women crying about unpaid labour are just gold digging grifters lying to you. It really is like a vacation.

@kerryjax71 @HannahDCox So you’re basically saying that YOU CHOSE to marry a guy who has no hygiene (personal or otherwise), can’t cook, is uneducated and acepta this disrespect from you. “More power to you”, then? Broken Logic from a broken woman.
