Hit this 💣 of a home run for my sophomore season facing Skyline at Bing Crosby Stadium tonight for Sherando High School.  Grateful for my teammates, coaches, and everyone who’s been in my corner. ⚾️ @SherandoBase @SnyderBaseball @sean_Mac89 @mattgraham567 @MMESS86 @NextLVLProspect @NextLVLSouth @valleybsblscout @vabaseballtourn @VarsityVirgini1 @FlatgroundBats @FlatgroundApp @PrepBaseVAS #Classof2028 #RHP #FirstBaseman #baseball #homerun

I have massive respect for umpires at every level. Calling balls and strikes with pitches in the 90s that break hard? That’s an incredibly difficult job. But, I need to be honest about what I’m seeing. This year I’ve watched hundreds of innings across high school, college, and the MLB. I genuinely cannot tell you what constitutes a strike anymore. Here’s what makes it so hard for umpires: → Pitch speeds are increasing at every level → The ball is breaking harder than ever → When a batter sets up deep in the box, the umpire gets pushed back too making the center of the plate even harder to frame. I recently watched a high school prep game where the strike zone was so inconsistent that both teams combined for 14+ runs in the FIRST INNING. Nobody - pitchers, hitters, coaches - had any idea where the zone was. Look at this example below. How is this not a strike? Part of me, like many of you, doesn’t love every aspect of ABS in the MLB. But fair is fair. When scholarships, draft stock, and careers are on the line, we owe these players a consistent zone. Looking forward to seeing ABS at least the college level soon. The stakes are too high not to. What do you think? Is it time? @FlatgroundApp @FlatgroundBats

Ever heard “A Win is a Win”? We had one of those last night. Not the prettiest and our energy was lackluster, but as a team we persisted and got the job done. Pitching: 88-59, 67% strikes. 5 IP, 7K, 2BB, 4H, 1ER. I need to work on closing out when I get up 1-2 or 0-2 in counts. Leaving too much room for them. Hitting: 2/4, 2 RBI Win 6-5, @BaseballPieper JV boys swept Las Mulas this week. #whateverittakes @FlatgroundApp
