Newly @PB_Uncommitted, RHP Damian Kosempa (2026) has caught the biggest buzz of Wisconsin's spring so far. From February at the ProCase: FB, 90-92 mph: 🔹2,484 rpm, 13 in. IVB / 14 in. HB, 4.8° VAA SL, 83-84 mph: 🔹2,978 rpm, -10 in. IVB / -13 in. HB CH, 84-85 mph: 🔹945 rpm, -4 in. IVB / 9 in. HB I mean, there's some special ingredients here. In an age where fastball velo grows on trees, something else has to stand out and Kosempa's arsenal is highly unique and the results speak for themselves. So far this season: 14 IP, 2 H, 11 BB, 32 K (40 whiffs)

High school baseball— Kids throwing 95–110 pitches every 4–5 days all season once available. I don’t agree with this. They’re not big leaguers. A lot of these arms have futures. That’s just my take—you can agree or disagree, it is what it is.

A quick thought for high school baseball coaches this time of year 👇 Pitchers & catchers / tryout week isn’t the time to emphasize heavy conditioning. First off, conditioning (especially the “run til you puke” style) isn’t a foundational piece of baseball performance. Conditioning can have a place in training, but it’s not a major driver of success in this sport, especially at this time. Early season should be about preparing athletes to perform: ⚾ Bullpens & pitch development ⚾ Live ABs & timing ⚾ Defensive reps & game speed ⚾ Building rhythm and feel When we overload athletes with conditioning during this window, a few things tend to happen: • Excess soreness limits quality reps • Mechanics and movement patterns break down • Increased fatigue leads to higher injury risk • Evaluation becomes less accurate Most athletes won’t get into peak shape with one “hell week” of conditioning, and trying to do so can actually take away from their ability to show what they can do. And for pitchers specifically, conditioning is largely skill-specific. If the goal is to help them last longer in games, the answer isn’t more running… it’s gradually building pitch counts through bullpens and outings. You build up your pitch count by throwing more, not by running more. A better approach: ✔ Keep conditioning minimal ✔ Prioritize skill work and game-like reps ✔ Progressively build throwing volume ✔ Getting "conditioning" work in during skill work - base-running, fielding drills, etc Let them be fresh enough to compete, and you’ll get a much better look at your team. If you want a more in-depth explanation on what to do for conditioning to have it better suited for baseball players and the specific energy systems used, check out our Youtube video with the link below: youtu.be/1YWgp6B3nn4
