I’ve long believed in the power of procurement.
It can strengthen Britain's critical industrial resilience as part of what I call 'securonomics'.
And applying a new 'public interest test' for contracting decisions will strengthen our public services.

Keir Starmer, "We've done a new deal with the European Union"
"Which means we are more closely aligned to them when it comes to agriculture and food"
'That sounds more technical, but it translates to cheaper food in the supermarkets"
"Because without the friction between the UK and European Union countries it means the price of food goes down, because you're not picking up the costs at the border that you're otherwise picking up"
"Every cost at the border translates to a price increase at the supermarket"
Which begs the question why the UK isn't going full hog and rejoining the EU 🤷♂️
I am concerned to hear of the incident at Manchester Central Mosque last night. I know this will be worrying for Muslim communities, especially during Ramadan, a time of peace and reflection.
My thanks go to the volunteers and emergency services for their quick response.
We have provided up to £40 million funding for additional security at mosques, Muslim schools and community centres, and will continue to act to ensure communities are able to live without fear.
