The Catholic Church casually defines contraception as practices or tools for separating sex from pregnancy, and the church doctrine is that the two need to be united and that seeking to separate them and utilize sex for pleasure alone is a sin, but NFP seems to attempt exactly that.

You’d be surprised how many Protestant objections to Catholicism center on sex. Contraception. Celibacy. Mary’s virginity. Divorce. Remarriage. Masturbation. IVF. Premarital sex.
