There is a bit in @FleeMov where 2 young girls in Kabul trade Bollywood cards. A Vivek Mushran or a Mamik Singh for an Anil Kapoor. How beautifully our arts seep through borders!

#AnilKapoor's image in a playing card, winking at @FleeMov's young Afghan protagonist Amin, is one of the coolest things I have seen this festival season. The film follows Amin - a gay man and his journey as a refugee to Denmark! #TellurideFilmFestival #TIFF21

This personal animated documentary is getting plenty of buzz and rightly so. The hand-drawn work is gorgeous combined with the central subject’s story about fleeing from home is unbearably, the emotional effect is unbearably moving. #LFF

#Flee is an honest and brave telling of one man’s journey to external and internal freedom. The animation is crisp, the story is emotional, and the real footage is haunting. A completely original and powerful documentary.

#NYFF Review: FLEE (Second Viewing) — I just love this movie, an animated documentary chronicling the harrowing & heartbreaking journey of a gay refugee to safety & love in the West. Seeing it on the big screen, the story and animation are stunning. One of the year’s best. (9/10)

#Flee, an extraordinarily intimate animation capturing the refugee experience, makes its @TheNYFF premiere tonight. Read @FilmSwoon's review: bit.ly/2MuAky0

If you see any new documentary this year, let it be the devastatingly good ‘Flee.’ trib.al/7fhju2b

FLEE: lovely, smartly rendered; an insightful look at the imperfect, unglamorous nature of true human bravery. (Also: the collective, appreciative "hm!" from the audience at certain cuts from animation to live-action.) #NYFF59

I was hanging on every word of FLEE. Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s telling of his friend Amin’s refugee story is a deeply felt doc brimming with sincere understanding and evocative animation. An essential story that has become even more relevant since its premiere at Sundance. #NYFF59

Standing ovation for FLEE! Still my favorite of the year and perhaps more so now. An emotional gut punch both in its refugee story and that of a gay man sorting through the trauma that made him the man he is now. Truly a masterpiece of documentary and story telling. #NYFF59
