Religious beliefs shouldn't sway the way any MSP votes on the assisted dying bill. Religion should have no place in parliament.

Thank you, each and every one of you, for voting for life, for humanity, for care and against the death cult that seeks to cheapen and devalue people based on ability and age. @Grouse_Beater Exactly. One day we will have our independence, and one day terminally ill people will have the right to die with dignity. But these politicians disgust me.

HOLYROOD Assisted Dying Bill loses will to live 10.30pm: Bill defeated 69 votes to 57. Much of the anti-argument was emotive and embarrassingly illogical, with people worried about their consciences, (self-interest) and not of those in chronic dire distress, (empathy for others). Pure and simple, the Bill was talked down by shallow argument. Good old MSPs.

@Richard66173180 @A_MacLullich @RexKwonDo_ Its citizens should have the choice when terminally ill. Many people take their life wether you agree with their decision or not. But is it wrong to have some compassion for them to die with dignity and in the manner they decide? Not someone else.

@el67_s @castleDD Because the scaremongering has to always happen. Suddenly they group old people as having someone with a terminal illness. A load of bollocks.

@castleDD Struggle to understand how this will affect disabled people. It’s designed for those with terminal illnesses with less than 6 months left to live. Bit distasteful to use disabilities to argue for people to continue suffering and living in immense pain

Pure news from Scotland on St Patrick’s Day I hope this is replicated in the House of Lords for England and Wales. A dangerous act that makes so many disabled people vunerable. bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx2g…

Everyone who backs this no vote, and at some point in the future finds themselves - or someone they love - incapacitated, in pain, knowing they are going to die a slow, agonising death, should reflect on their decision when they decide they actually want the choice.
Ronaldopatrizio@ronaldopatrizio

Scotland has stepped back from the brink. But it’s no time for victory rhetoric. Rather time to build on the broad consensus for better palliative care. Hats off to MSP’s who had the courage to change their minds. #assisteddying
