People's characterization of OCD compulsions are "if I don't wash my hands all my family will die" which sounds ridiculous. It's actually "there's a chance I came into contact with e. coli and if I don't wash my hands I will spread it all over the kitchen and my family will die"

It kind of makes me emotional looking back on this now… I truly was being eaten alive by my mental disorder. All I could think about was brushing my teeth and picking my skin off. And my mother was afraid of me. I think I captured the feeling very well.
