@JorjaBailey3 De Bono's 6 thinking hats is a fantastic way to create higher order thinking in your classroom. Thank you for giving me the idea to include this into my unit

@JorjaBailey3 WOW! those stats are insane. Maybe you could host a ride a bike/scooter to school day to reduce the use of cars and buses driving to school. Will encourage school families to use their car less

Transport is Australia's third largest source of greenhouse gas emissions (17% of total emissions). Transport emissions have grown more than any other sector, increasing nearly 60% since 1990. What could we do as a community/class to help lower these stats? #Educ4750

@JorjaBailey3 @WWF Not only do we need to build a sustainable future for us, we also need to help protect the futures of our amazing wildlife. Another aspect of SGD13 that can be considered

I think this is an amazing idea! We can ask the students to bring in recyclable material from home, or even start a recycling system at school to get materials. Such an awesome mural! #Educ4750 #SDG13 #UoNTeach

@JorjaBailey3 would build on community connections as well. Also a great idea to use zoom to connect with them.

climatechangehastings.org.au/index.php/abou… - Climate Change Hastings is a local organisation that advocates for serious climate action. This is a great resource for students to look at as it is local and factual. it would be great to set up a zoom meeting for the students with this group. #EDUC4748

The Great Barrier Reef is a reliable Australian example of how ocean pollution can threaten our oceans most incredible sites. Start critical thinking within your classroom by allowing students to think of ways to save the reef. #UoNTeach #Educ4750
AJ+@ajplus

Australia's Great Barrier Reef will likely disappear because of climate change, according to @Science_Academy. Just 1.5°C of warming (on track for 2025 at current emission levels) would threaten 70-90% of coral reefs globally. At 2°C of warming, just 1% of reefs survive.

@JorjaBailey3 Allowing students the choice to choose how to present their persuasive writing is a great way of including student autonomy!

When looking at persuasive writing in your classroom it would be an awesome opportunity for the students to write on a topic they are passionate about such as Climate Action! Get your students to link this into their literacy and use different sources! #SDG13 #UoNTeach #Educ4750

@Oliviacowieuon1 This would be perfect inspiration for my stage 3 major project and fantastic that it includes an Aboriginal perspective. I would use these images to start strong conversations as a whole class.

Ghost net artworks made by Indigenous Australian Artists. Inspiration galore! How could we use these resources to engage with our students? Could they reflect on the waste they have collected in terms of potential art that could be created? #EDUC4750 australian.museum/learn/cultures…

@ConorMu44822241 I'm planning on creating a large mural art piece for my major project. Do you believe this could be a good leading up lesson for stage 3 students to complete?

As part of my science section of the unit I will be directing stage 3 students to interview local community members around newcastle beaches and jetties. Do you believe this will give students a better insight into how people treat our oceans? #uonteach #Educ4750

This BTN clip is an awesome ICT resource that explores the causes of pollution in our ocean. 3.5 million pieces of plastic is entering our oceans daily and thousands of marine life are dying each year. We need action! #uonteach abc.net.au/btn/classroom/…

What a great initiative made by a student-led governing body! My hope for students is that they use 21st Century Skills like Problem Solving and Collaboration (Microsoft Partners in Learning, SRI Int., ITL Research, 2012) to achieve great outcomes like this. #UoNteach

Our school parliament organised a super hero day today. It was a fundraiser and all money raised will be donated to the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Well done to our student leaders for thinking of others & our school community for their generous support for a great cause. 🦸🦸‍♀️

A clear difference of what our global beaches should look like and how they actually look. Such a sad reality of how destructive plastic pollution is. Lets take a stand and protect our amazing oceans! #UoNTeach #Educ4750

INSTAGRAM vs. REALITY Millions of people around the world think the first picture is what Indonesia always looks like, because these are the kind of images being shared daily by travel accounts. The sad reality is that Indonesia's beaches often suffer from plastic pollution.

As teachers we always need to continue our learning. Seaspiracy is a new Netflix doco that challenges notions of sustainable fishing and how human action can cause widespread destruction. Have a watch if you're looking at #SGD14 #Educ4750 youtube.com/watch?v=1Q5CXN…
