Programmers seem very opposed to in-code documentation. Yet I've never heard a decent argument why. What is the reason you don't like it?

@DruidMechanics For me the most important thing to comment is why the code exists in first place. That is something even the most readable code cannot tell you. I agree that it is not always necessary, but more often than not it is, and is often neglected.

@FlorisGroen I think comments are invaluable, but not always necessary. Sometimes descriptive names are self-explanatory enough, though even then, a comment mentioning an important nuance can be very much appreciated.

IMO, knowing how to document your code is an important skill as a professional programmer. What is your take on code comments?

I like this quote: programming languages are not just technology, they are what programmers think in. They’re half technology and half religion.

Ok 7 hours later and our Stylized Fire Shader is looking preeeeetty sweet. Added sparks and smoke as well. Particularly struggled with lerping between discrete offsets on a single texture, like a smooth flipbook, for the smoke. #gamedev #unity3d #screenshotsaturday

As a programmer, I dislike it when a programmer blindly follows a rule, without considering the purpose of the rule. Especially when applying the rule in a particular case runs counter to the purpose.

I want to get more into the art side of things, rather than programming. To all (technical) artists out there, what are good resources for learning?

@bluegoogames Thx! It was coded in Notepad++ using threeJS. I actually dislike shader generators as I want 100% control.
