The SS Minnow was a 1964 Wheeler with a top speed of 12 knots, meaning that they couldn’t have travelled more than 36 nautical miles. Now I’m not sure if the show was even real.

True story about @StewartWood, newly appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs. During a 2011 visit, Stewart graciously offered to give my family a private tour of Parliament. As we passed through security, the Sergeant-At-Arms asked Stewart, "This be your family, Lord Wood?" "No," Stewart replied, "They are friends from the States." The officer's face darkened. "Are they trustworthy?" He asked in a stage whisper. "Oh, absolutely," Stewart responded, suppressing a chuckle.

How much does an extra year of education actually raise earnings? Our new study synthesizes 191 causal estimates from 145 studies across 54 countries. The answer: about 10% per year of schooling. And causal estimates exceed OLS estimates in ~80% of comparisons. Education pays. It's a legitimate concern, and school choice programs have been heavily scrutinized for possible fraud. In Arkansas for 2024-25, all purchases were reviewed before being approved or reimbursed. 0.4% of all dollars involved disallowed purchases. There was 0 fraud. This study of Arizona's more lightly regulated program reports 2% disallowed purchases and 0.3% fraud. These are miniscule fraud rates for government programs, thankfully. edchoice.org/research/spend…

school choice is the #1 policy move we can make to improve education in the united states BUT, if the policy is poorly designed, we'll see huge amounts of grifting and corruption Very few states so far have good policies... I meet a lot of very shady folks printing cash
