Fife is right. Why would a sane Premier scream & beg for federal approval of O&G pipeline projects & then set a separation referendum that destabilizes all opportunities for potential private investment in those pipelines? This benefits only Trump's USA and risks all of Canada.

Voting on whether to have a vote is a ridiculous lack of provincial leadership. Calgary is a globally connected city. Separation uncertainty is costing us jobs. We have real work to do: building homes, improving public safety, fixing infrastructure, growing our economy, and making life better.

Alberta isn’t slowing down for anyone. We’re building. We’re drilling. We’re hiring- backed by the highest paycheques in Canada and continuing record investment. The Alberta Advantage lives on and we’re just getting started.

Jeffrey Rath has endorsed a plan that calls for a leadership review of Premier Danielle Smith, who must be removed for a pro-separation leader, who will then replace the current sovereignty question. The plan says this must happen before Canada finishes transforming into an authoratarian police state.

Danielle Smith is a separatist. The UCP is a separatist party. They are going to spend millions of public dollars to back the separatists and fight against the rights of Indigenous peoples.

If a separatist group wants to fight this in court, they can pay for their own appeal. It is not the responsibility of Alberta taxpayers to subsidize a political project the government claims it does not even support. edmontonjournal.com/opinion/letter…

@johnwtomkinson @edmontonjournal Yes do fight it, but the most important to do right now is for her to use her legal right and obligation to simply call the referendum. She knows it is an error of law and has the right to simply sidestep it until it can be appealed.

@edmontonjournal If she is going to support separatists she should do it on her own dime. I should not have to see my Canadian tax dollars being used to fight Canada!

Imagine thinking that putting up a shed is in any way equivalent to undoing Treaties that were signed before Alberta even existed. Larry from Ontario is free to move back.

A majority of Albertans have a negative view of the premier’s 9 referendum questions, and just 27% are supportive, according to new polling. As Sean Amato reports, ‘wasteful’ is a word both NDP and UCP supporters used to describe the vote. #ableg edmonton.citynews.ca/video/2026/05/…
