What an awesome week at Aronimink @PGAChampionship. Although it didn’t go exactly how I wanted, it sure was nice to post a number early yesterday to give myself a chance. Hats off to Aaron Rai with some insanely clutch shots down the stretch. I was so impressed with the course - how it managed to test both our discipline and precision all week. It begged us to challenge pins and play aggressively, and we found out early we’d be punished if we didn’t execute. Which in my opinion, are just as major championships should be

Next up, just a month away, we’ve got a big one: The 126th United States Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, June 18-21. Simply put, this storied venue is one of America’s oldest and best: founded in 1891, first purpose-built clubhouse in 1892, USGA founding member in 1895, host of the 2nd U.S. Open in 1896, and one of the 10 best golf courses in the world. It’s impossible for a golf fan not to get excited for a U.S. Open at Shinnecock.

I’m not a member, but as a lifelong Philly-area guy and a @GAofPhilly golfer, I couldn’t be prouder of Aronimink Golf Club after it hosted one of the best PGA Championships in recent memory. Congrats to the membership and staff for a major the city can be proud of. And hopefully, with Merion next up on the men’s major docket in 2030, we can put to bed the idea that classic golf courses need to be stretched or bastardized beyond all recognition to host a big event. As I mentioned on Friday, the rough was a little deeper, the fairways a little tighter, the greens a little firmer and faster, and the pins a little tougher, but anyone who has played Aronimink would recognize it as the same course the pros played this week. And congrats to Aaron Rai - that was some of the best golf I’ve ever seen on the last 10 holes today. Well done!
