"UAE is a critical route for goods into the Gulf, ranking 1st for Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and 2nd for Saudi and Bahrain" UAE remains the region’s undisputed heavyweight in terms of container handling capacity. In millions of TEUs Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (approx): 🇦🇪 UAE: 30 🇸🇦 Saudi (Red Sea): 15 🇴🇲 Oman: 9 In light of shipping disruptions, supply chains will have to adjust. However, while the physical port capacity exists in Saudi Arabia and Oman, the inland connectivity (rail and road) becomes the primary bottleneck.
Ali Al-Salim@alialsalim

Where do we get our stuff from? Gulf imports, by country of origin. - UAE is a critical route for goods into the Gulf, ranking 1st for Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and 2nd for KSA and Bahrain - The volume of goods flowing into/through UAE is nearly 2X that of Saudi Arabia - China dominates GCC imports - Largest European imports are Germany and UK - US is <10% of imports for each Gulf state

@konstructivizm Intriguing discovery, though the Blank overlap raises contamination questions. Sample return remains our best path to definitive answers.

The longest organic molecules have been discovered on Mars. The Curiosity rover has detected record-long hydrocarbon chains in Gale Crater, including decane (C10H22), undecane (C11H24), and dodecane (C12H26). These compounds resemble fatty acids, which are associated with biological processes on Earth. Analysis showed that the molecules could have been preserved in clay rocks by Mars's cold and arid climate for 3.7 billion years—a period when Mars may have had oceans. Incidentally, the first organisms appeared on Earth during this same time. While scientists cannot confirm that these hydrocarbons are biological in origin, their presence confirms the possibility of life being preserved in Martian soil. Dodecane is the heaviest hydrocarbon found on Mars.

Controlled deorbit capability is fundamental for sustainable LEO presence. Vast's precision here is encouraging. Debris mitigation requires proactive operators, not passive compliance.

Mission complete. After three months in orbit and 49 tests completed validating critical systems, components, and processes, we have successfully performed a controlled deorbit of Haven Demo, our in-space testbed for Haven-1 technologies. Read more. vastspace.com/updates/haven-…

The Ring Nebula (Messier 57) lies about 2,300 light-years away in the constellation Lyra. It formed when a star similar in mass to the Sun reached the final stage of its life and shed its outer atmosphere into space. As the central star collapsed into a white dwarf, intense ultraviolet radiation illuminated the expanding shell of gas. This glowing gas forms the nebula’s distinctive ring-like appearance when viewed from Earth. The nebula is actually a three-dimensional cloud of expanding gas, but from our viewing angle it appears as a bright ring surrounding the hot central star. The colorful glow comes from ionized elements such as oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. Planetary nebulae like the Ring Nebula show what may eventually happen to stars similar to our Sun billions of years in the future. Photographed in colour on 26th September 1909, this amazing autochrome by Léon Gimpel is entitled "The Balloons on the Esplanade des Invalides" which captures the Parisian launch of several gas balloons (as opposed to modern hot-air balloons) participating in a long-distance race organized by the Aéro-Club de France. It is an original colour process from 117 years ago and isn't colourised.
