The total federal debt is now almost 40 trillion dollars. Which is almost six times as much as the annual budget of the federal government. That is per person. So, for a core family of four, the debt is 461,308 dollars. And for that average core family, the annual interest payment is 13,000 dollars. The worst part? The debt just keeps growing. The official annual deficit is 1,7 trilion a year out of a total federal budget of only 7,2 trillion. For each dollar the federal government spends, 23 cents is unfunded deficit and 15 cents is interest payment. And it actually gets even worse.
