UPDATE | A 51-year-old German citizen, Carmen Spetzinger, died after a light aircraft crashed near Aus Settlement in the ||Kharas Region on Sunday morning. Head of the ||Kharas Police Crime Investigations Unit, Deputy Commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, confirmed the incident. He said the pilot, a 60-year-old German national with permanent residency in Namibia, Dr. Saneke Bernhard, survived the crash. The pilot, who has over 30 years of flying experience, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Medical Rescue Africa from Lüderitz to a private hospital in Windhoek. Mbango described his medical condition as stable. It is alleged that the aircraft was flying at low altitude when it became entangled in electrical cables, causing the crash. Mbango said the aircraft wreckage is under police guard pending further investigations, adding that the cause of the crash is not yet known. The next of kin of the deceased have been informed.
