I said it then (feb 2025) and I will say it again: We were wrong on crypto and on bitcoin, must rethink! Being "last" I thought no one would care... but the reception was massive, so many reached out! Nice to see first thing out there, MORE to come... reuters.com/business/finan…

When I was working at Klarna in 2022 I was part of an internal group pushing for crypto integrations/products, but I largely felt our ideas fell on deaf ears. It was one of the reasons I ultimately left to go full time into web3. Excited to see them change their minds. Huge W for Klarna!
Klarna@Klarna

Introducing KlarnaUSD, our first @Stablecoin. We’re the first bank to launch on @tempo, the payments blockchain by @stripe and @paradigm. With stablecoin transactions already at $27T a year, we’re bringing faster, cheaper cross-border payments to our 114M customers. Crypto is finally ready for scale. This is just the beginning. Excited to build the future with Tempo and Bridge.

Vitaliks’ positive assessment of Base rests heavily on the Security Council’s ability to constrain Coinbase. Is this justified? There are a few issues: 1. Independence ≠ Opposition Yes, >26% of Council sits outside Coinbase. But would they actually oppose Coinbase when user interests conflict? External members can still be economically, reputationally, or politically aligned with Coinbase over users. 2. No defined loyalty to users Base's Council docs say members must "verify, approve, and sign upgrades"—period. No requirement to protect users when doing so conflicts with the interests of Coinbase, their employers, or themselves. 3. Risks beyond Coinbase Even trusting the Council, what about hackers or governments compromising Council members? Users face risks from anyone who can compromise the Council, not just Coinbase. 4. The power of the sequencer Coinbase can unilaterally cut Base's throughput by >99% by disabling the sequencer. While not permanent, this can stall exits long enough to destroy value; no Council oversight required. The solution? At minimum an exit window, but ideally removing the power of any small group to compromise the rollup on any time horizon: becoming an Unstoppable Rollup (@CantStopEth)

Base is doing things the right way: an L2 on top of Ethereum, that uses its centralized features to provide stronger UX features, while still being tied into Ethereum's decentralized base layer for security. Base does not have custody over your funds, they cannot steal funds or stop you from withdrawing funds (this is part of the L2beat stage 1 definition). You can see Base's status as an L2 on l2beat: l2beat.com/scaling/projec… I feel like many people have been confused by recent cynicism and think that things like L2beat are a weird sort of nerd-sharia compliance authority. This is NOT what is going on. The security that L2s provide, that L2beat measures, reflects concrete properties that protect you as a user from being rugged. Here is an explanation of how, if an L2 shuts down, users are automatically able to withdraw funds even without that L2's involvement: x.com/l2beat/status/… Here is an example of how L2s prevent the operator from censoring transactions, that happened on Soneium earlier this year: x.com/gauthamzzz/sta… This is what we mean when we say that L2s are non-custodial, they are extensions of ethereum, not glorified servers that happen to submit hashes. There are concrete pathways implemented in smart contract logic on Ethereum L1, that have been successfully used in the wild, that ensure that the L2 users' funds are ultimately controlled by L1, they cannot be stolen or blocked by the L2 operator.

$910M raised?! bro at this point they should just buy a Russell 2000 company and DAT that shit yeet Warner Music Group and Razer onchain lfg
Community Fist@community_fist

Looking for something to do after $LINEA TGE? 👀 Looks like a new mega-project just popped up. @ForteProtocol is the infrastructure layer to define, launch, and monetize on-chain economy. Forte raised a crazy $910M back in 2021 (don't ask why anyone would even need that much, but everything points to those funds being real). They went quiet for a long time, but now they're back with Galxe quests you can complete here: app.galxe.com/quest/FortePro… Yeah, the golden age of Galxe quests is long gone, but this project feels like one of those you really don't wanna skip. 🚀

TL;DR Ethscriptions stage 2 appchain: - this is the first OP fork stage 2 appchain ever deployed - no gas token needed (probably) - built on @0xFacet's stage-2 stack - soft fork, in essence adding an indexer don't think anything like this has been done before, very cool
Tom Lehman@dumbnamenumbers

Ethscriptions is a protocol @michaelhirsch and I created in 2023. Originally it was a joke: porting Bitcoin’s Inscriptions, which are useful precisely because BTC has no smart contracts, to Ethereum which has smart contracts. What's the point?! But joke or not, Ethscriptions were the only “cheaper NFT” option in 2023 that didn’t involve a centralized L2, and this was powerful. They were our first Unstoppable Rollup (@CantStopETH)! But Ethscriptions isn’t a *real* rollup because it has no proofs. Trust-minimized bridging to other chains is impossible and it’s quite difficult for two independent implementations to know they’re applying the same protocol rules! While Ethscriptions is completely decentralized on the protocol level, in practice everyone just trusts the same indexer implementation. Also, Ethscriptions is not EVM-compatible, meaning the ecosystem can’t take advantage of EVM tooling and EVM-based marketplaces and platforms have difficulty integrating. To fix these problems, we are going to upgrade Ethscriptions to an EVM chain, make it provable, and become a Stage 2 App Chain on L2Beat! For normal users this is like Ethscriptions changing databases. It’s an infrastructural change that won’t affect functionality. However for power users and developers the upgrade will unlock a new world of possibilities! Join us in 30 mins TODAY to discuss more! x.com/i/spaces/1RDxl…
